Woman's TikTok video gives the reason why she broke up with her boyfriend

A woman from the United States has suffered from a persistent sinus infection for seven years, which she believes began after an unusual incident involving her ex-boyfriend. Christine Connell , who shared her story on TikTok , said the infection started after a strange incident in 2016. She was recovering from ankle surgery in a hotel room with her then-boyfriend. According to her, he stood naked between their two beds and released a loud fart near her face. She was lying down and accidentally inhaled it. Shortly after, Connell began experiencing serious sinus problems. She had trouble breathing through her nose, constant headaches, and facial pain. What seemed like a minor issue turned into a long-term health battle. E. coli is a type of bacteria usually found in the intestines and is mainly known for causing food poisoning or urinary tract infections. It is extremely rare for E. coli to be found in the sinuses. Doctors believe the bacteria entered her body during that incident, possibly because her immune system was weak due to surgery. Her body couldn't fight the infection properly, and it became chronic. Live Events Connell has tried several antibiotics and nasal sprays, but nothing has worked permanently. Some medications gave her temporary relief, but the infection always came back. Facing surgery Now, Connell says her doctors are considering surgery as the only solution. They may have to physically remove the infected tissue from her sinuses to help her finally recover. Her TikTok video about the situation has gone viral, with many users expressing disbelief, concern, and even humor. While the story may sound funny at first, Connell says it's been anything but. 'It's painful and exhausting,' she explained. Unusual but serious Though extremely rare, bacteria can spread unexpectedly; this case is a good example. It also shows how long-term infections can develop from small incidents, especially when the body is weakened. Connell hopes that by sharing her story, others will understand how strange situations can sometimes lead to serious health problems and why it's important to seek medical help when something doesn't feel right. FAQs What is the main cause of E. coli infection? The leading cause of E. coli infection is eating contaminated food, especially undercooked ground beef, unpasteurized milk or juice, and raw fruits or vegetables. It can also spread through contaminated water, personal contact, or poor hygiene. Why is E. coli harmful to humans? E. coli is harmful because some strains produce toxins that damage the lining of the intestines, leading to severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, and sometimes life-threatening complications like kidney failure, especially in vulnerable groups such as young children and the elderly. What are the 4 symptoms of E. coli? Four common symptoms of E. coli infection are severe stomach cramps, watery or bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and mild fever. Symptoms usually appear within 1 to 10 days after exposure and can last up to 10 days.

Leawood public health advisory lifted after wastewater overflow

A public health advisory for Leawood residents and businesses was lifted Friday after an overflow during routine maintenance Thursday at the Tomahawk Wastewater Treatment Facility led to contamination of nearby Indian Creek, according to the Johnson County Department of Health. While the overflow did not impact public water sources, residents in the area were advised to keep themselves and their pets from making contact with the water. The advisory came 'out of an abudance of caution' due to concerns about exposure to the bacteria E. coli. According to Johnson County Wastewater Community Relations Manager Melissa Reeves, the overflow was the result of increased velocity in the facility's primary sludge pumps. 'As part of regular maintenance, operators were flushing the gravity thickener feed by running the primary sludge pumps at 100% speed to increase velocity in the pipe,' she said in an email. 'The pumps were inadvertently left on at that speed and not returned to the regular pump speed (30%). The increased flow overloaded the gravity thickener to the point that it overflowed.' Reeves said rain and high water levels minimized the impact of the overflow and its contamination of the water. She said test results received Friday morning showed the contamination levels of the creek 'remained within normal range.' Johnson County Wastewater is reviewing how they can prevent a similar operational failure from happening in the future. 'We are reviewing opportunities for additional automation support that can enhance our maintenance processes to minimize the risk of a future operational failure,' she said.

RFK Jr. Chugs Raw Milk With Crackpot Doc at White House

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. skipped the champagne when celebrating the release of his agency's Make America Healthy Again report. Instead, the Health and Human Services secretary marked the publication of the error-ridden report—which linked to nonexistent scientific studies—with a shooter of non-pasteurized milk alongside controversial health influencer Dr. Paul Saladino, who pushes an animal-based diet. 'Raw milk shooters at the @WhiteHouse with @RobertKennedyJr,' Saladino, also known as Carnivore MD, posted on X alongside a video of the pair slamming the shots. In the clip, Saladino mentions that the milk is free of glyphosate—a controversial chemical found in pesticides like weed killer Roundup and is also commonly used by farmers. Kennedy has linked the chemical to childhood chronic diseases and has said it is contaminating American food. 'One of the things I know you're thinking a lot about is this huge amount of glyphosate, so we've got glyphosate-free honey and raw milk,' Saladino says. Then the pair clinks glasses, and Saladino thanks Kennedy, with products from his meat-based food brand Lineage Provisions visible in the background. 'Thank you for your work. It's an honor to spend time with you,' Saladino says. 'You too,' Kennedy responds. In March 2015, the World Health Organisation's International Agency on Research into Carcinogens (IARC) announced that glyphosate probably causes a type of cancer called non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which affects the lymphatic system. However, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says glyphosate is 'not likely to be carcinogenic to humans' at exposure levels found in real-world use. In 2023, the National Institutes of Health's National Toxicology Program said that glyphosate is 'unlikely' to be toxic to humans. On the other hand, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said in a March 2024 advisory that 'raw milk can contain a variety of disease-causing pathogens, as demonstrated by numerous scientific studies.' Raw milk is 150 times more likely to cause foodborne illnesses than milk that hasn't been pasteurized, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). It can carry pathogens like Salmonella, E. coli, Listeria, Campylobacter, and Brucella. Drinking it can cause issues ranging from mild gastrointestinal distress to serious conditions like hemolytic uremic syndrome, which stems from E. coli and can lead to kidney failure. Sepsis, or bloodstream infections, can also occur. In an earlier Instagram video, Saladino had bragged about taking his own raw meat lunch to the White House. 'I am in D.C. for the big announcement of the MAHA chronic disease report. I've got a raw milk smoothie in here that is raw milk, blueberries, honey, and raw meat actually,' he said, 'We're taking America back, guys.'

E. coli prompts boil water notice in Jefferson County

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A boil water notice has been issued for all customers who get their water from the Union Church Waterworks Association in Jefferson County. According to the Mississippi State Department of Health (MSDH), the notice was issued due to the presence of E. coli bacteria in routine sampling. The notice affects 521 connections. Public Water Quality Advisory issued for Pearl River Health officials strongly recommend that all water be boiled vigorously for one minute before it is consumed. This precaution will last at least two full days, and water system officials will be notified when the boil water alert is lifted. According to MSDH, fecal coliforms and E. coli are bacteria whose presence indicates that the water may be contaminated with human or animal wastes. Microbes in these wastes can cause short-term effects such as diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms. They may pose a special health risk for infants, young children and people with severely compromised immune systems. Close Thanks for signing up! Watch for us in your inbox.
