Easthampton offering free smoke detector installations
EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The Easthampton Fire Department is installing free smoke detectors for residents.
Crews put out attic fire in Easthampton home
For several years, the Red Cross has worked with local fire departments, installing hundreds of smoke detectors in homes. To be considered, your home must be built before 1975, your current detectors must be over 10-years-old, and you need to own the home you're applying for.
Alarms are crucial home safety tools and should be installed on every level of your house. It is important to get alarms from a well-known national brand that is listed by an independent laboratory like Underwriters Laboratories (UL) or Intertek (ETL). When installing a new smoke alarm, get a replacement with a sealed, long-life battery and a hush feature.
To sign up, contact the Easthampton Council on Aging & Enrichment Center at kthompson@ The deadline is March 3rd.
