Italy's Edison reports higher revenue, but core profit drops

May 7(Reuters) - Italy's energy company Edison (
, opens new tab almost halved its first-quarter core profit compared to last year, despite reporting higher revenues, citing a market rebalance after a strong performance in 2024 and lower optimisation of its gas business.
The group's core profit dropped 39.5% from a year earlier to 360 million euros ($408.78 million), but the company said it is in line with expectations.

Revenue came in at 5.54 billion euros, up 36% over the period, mainly pushed up by higher volume and prices.
