YSU men pick up key conference win over Oakland
ROCHESTER, MI. (WKBN) – Youngstown State men's basketball secured a key 84-75 win over Oakland in Horizon League action on Thursday night. The 'Guins keep pace with Robert Morris for the fourth seed and just a half-game behind Milwaukee and one behind Purdue Fort Wayne in a crowded Horizon League field. YSU briefly trailed 5-4 early on before taking control of the first half and maintaining a six-point lead at the break. Oakland would cut it back down to a four-point game before YSU separated in the second half with the help of EJ Farmer's game-high 25 points. Also for the Penguins, Juwan Maxey added 19 points on four three-pointers while Nico Galette scored 10 points, hauled in 12 rebounds, dished out six assists and recorded three steals. Cris Carroll also finished in double figures scoring with 10 points while Ty Harper also pitched in eight points during the victory.
