India wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant broke the stadium's roof with a monstrous six during a practice session ahead of the all-important Test series with England. India and England are set to lock horns in a five-match Test series beginning from June 20. Pant has been appointed as India's new vice-captain and will act as a deputy to Shubman Gill. His form will be extremely crucial for the team's success in the upcoming season, given his past performances in England. The southpaw has accumulated 556 runs from 17 innings in England at an average of 32.70 with two centuries and as many wicketkeeper batter wasn't in the best of forms in the recently concluded Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) as he accumulated just 269 runs from 13 innings at an average of 24.45 with one hundred and as many fifties. After a horrendous run in the first 12 innings, Pant finally found some form in the last league fixture against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).He scored a breathtaking 118* off 61 balls, smashing 11 fours and eight sixes, guiding Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) to a massive score of 227/3. However, his efforts ended in a losing cause with Jitesh Sharma taking RCB over the line with his remarkable knock of 85* (33).Hence, Pant did manage to end IPL well after enduring poor form, which gives a positive sign for India going forward. Pant scored a century in the last Test India played in England in 2022, playing an innings of 146 (111) to rescue his team from a precarious position of 98/5.
