Eurovision hopeful EMMY makes major changes to performance ahead of song contest
Eurovision hopeful EMMY has made major changes to her performance ahead of the song contest.
The Norwegian singer flew to Basel in Switzerland on Sunday afternoon ahead of her first rehearsal on Monday.
The 24-year-old will fly the flag for Ireland at the Eurovision with the song Laika Party. She will perform third in the second semi-final on Thursday, May 15.
But according to ESC News, Emmy's silver playsuit has been replaced by a silver metallic dress with a pleated skirt, silver boots and a helmet-like hood.
EMMY will be joined on stage by her brother, Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, and the dancers who will share the stage with the siblings in Basel's St Jakobshalle: Vilde Skorstad, Karin Aaeng Stuge, Kristiane Lindvik, and Christiane Bergersen.
Eurovision fans were treated to a sneak peek of her first rehearsal on Monday.
She starts the performance spotlit on a shiny metal platform in the centre of the stage that looks like a lunar module, with her brother Erlend on keyboards at stage level in front, wearing a metallic silver shirt and his trademark star-shaped shades.
According to eyewitnesses, there are four female dancers, all in silver trousers and black/silver vests, who dance in front of Erlend during each chorus.
"So it has the same vibe and energy we saw at the Irish national final, but the routine is much more precise and polished, and the staging is on a Basel scale.
"The biggest difference is the impact of the neon lighting and LED walls - the floating bones are gone, instead replaced by neon planets and animated marching space cats for each set of bam bams.
"During the chorus the main LED wall features a constellation that forms the shape of Laika the dog out of stars," the website added.
It comes after EMMY revealed she was worried whether she would make the flight "because I was one hour delayed because of a storm in Norway and blocked roads".
"But now I'm on the plane! I met the others.
"We are so, so excited for Basel, to see the big stage and to see our new friends, the other contestants."
The first Eurovision Song Contest semi-final is on Tuesday 13 May.
EMMY will perform third in the second semi-final on Thursday, 15 May. The grand final is on Saturday, 17 May.
