Collision between semi, overpass backs up traffic on Portage Avenue near Polo Park
A segment of westbound Portage Avenue in Winnipeg was blocked Tuesday afternoon after a semi truck apparently hit an overpass near Polo Park mall. Traffic was backed up for several blocks in the area mid-afternoon, but Winnipeg police said in an email sent around 3:30 that traffic had returned to normal. A semi with a badly damaged shipping container could be seen just west of the overpass near Empress Street, in front of the Earl's restaurant. Gail Archer-Heese said she was travelling westbound, approaching Polo Park, when she saw traffic trying to merge out of the middle lane at around 2:30 p.m. "I thought there was a deer on the road," she said. "But then we looked up and there was debris hanging from the bridge all the way down."

EARL'S, PRUDENTIAL Believe the Process Tarik I was in a rush since I had the date after work. Once I got into the Uber I was in a much calmer state of mind. Taylor I definitely felt nervous. I listened to my favorite music while getting ready and that helped calm me down. Tarik I was around 12 minutes late. Taylor was there when I arrived. The host walked me to our table on the second floor. It was a suspenseful walk up the stairs. Advertisement Taylor I was on time. He was about 30 minutes late. Tarik I was impressed. Taylor has a very pretty face, especially eyes. Taylor He seemed shy. Having Faith Tarik We talked about our jobs. Taylor works on grants and philanthropy, which was interesting to hear about. I did ask if she drank alcohol. She said that she doesn't drink that much. I also don't drink that much so I ordered seltzer water. We talked about hobbies such as reading. Taylor I discovered that he enjoys traveling and is into art and anime. We talked about our hobbies and interests, what types of movies and shows we like to watch and musicians we enjoyed listening to. Tarik I ordered the Southwest salad. We got truffle fries as an appetizer. The food and service at Earl's was great. For dessert we both ordered créme brûlée and that was the standout. Advertisement Taylor He actually chose to order everything that I had ordered for his meal as well. The food was great and the service was phenomenal. That's honestly why I love Earl's. Tarik I felt comfortable getting to know Taylor. She checked the boxes that I look for attraction-wise. I wouldn't say that we had a spark, but I could see the potential down the line. Taylor I felt comfortable enough. I would not say that I got more comfortable as the date progressed, though. Tarik I asked if she was open to going on a second date. She responded with this question: 'Are you a Christian?' I replied that I'm on a break. This seemed to be a deal breaker. Taylor He seemed like a really nice guy. However, when he said he was taking a break from his faith, that was a deal breaker for me. At a Crossroads Tarik We decided to go our separate ways after dinner. I think we were both tired toward the end. I thought about asking for her number but I decided to just leave it be. She thanked me and said that I gave her hope. Taylor He asked if we could go on another date. I was honest with him and said that it wouldn't be best for me to date someone who did not share the same faith. He was very respectful of that and I appreciated it a lot. Second Date? Tarik I don't think we will go out again. I don't think I'm what she is looking for.
