East Hartford police investigating dog deaths
EAST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTNH) — Less than a week apart, two dogs were found dead in East Hartford.
According to East Hartford Police, a dog that appeared to be a young Pitbull between four-to-10 weeks old was found dead in a garbage bag in a wooded area near Forbes and Cottage Street on Sunday morning.

Officers said the dog had what appeared to be a gunshot wound in its side, but it has not been confirmed yet.
This is one of two recent incidents where East Hartford Animal Control said dogs were thrown away as if they were trash.
On March 18th, a golden retriever was found dead in a garbage can behind the abandoned Stop & Shop on Silver Lane.
The two locations are about three minutes apart, but police reported that there is no evidence that the two incidents are connected.
These deadly incidents are still under investigation.
Officer Marc Caruso, the Public Information Officer for the East Hartford Police Department told News 8 that a necropsy will be done on the golden retriever to determine the cause of death.
He described these deadly incidents as horrifying.
'Any time something like this happens we all know our animals are parts of our family and they are innocent and defenseless animals so when you see this type of pain or behavior inflicted on an animal it's sad for everyone involved, especially pet owners,' said Caruso.
While animal cruelty is a crime, Zilla Cannamela with Desmond's Army Animal Law Advocates said if an animal passes away there are proper steps to take including a burial in your backyard or you can reach out to your local dog pound to have your pet cremated.
