OSF Healthcare to host drug take back day
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — OSF Healthcare is teaming up with the Peoria Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. On Saturday, you can get rid of your unused or unneeded prescription tablets, capsules, patches or other solid forms. If you're bringing in liquids, OSF asks that you make sure they remain sealed. Sandy Salverson, senior vice president of pharmacy services for OSF, explains the necessity of the event. 'It's an important initiative to bring back things that are unused in our communities,' Salverson said. 'Specifically, we're looking at opioids or pain medications, but it can be any medications because the risk of having that out, not used and expired can pose a danger to our community.' Easterseals Community Rally 2025: Day 5 Salverson also listed a couple of examples of situations where prescription drugs are unneeded and can be brought back. 'For instance, maybe a family member has passed away and you have old medications that would be really good to bring back,' she said. Easterseals Community Rally 2025: Day 5
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Volunteers were taking calls on Friday for the last day of the Easterseals Community Rally Telethon. The community rally will raise money and awareness for children with disabilities. As part of the Rally, Easterseals will be holding a telethon from April 21 through 25. Easterseals Community Rally 2025: Day 4 Easterseals Engagement Manager Molly Hogeboom said the Community Rally is a highlight of their year, and hopes people learned what Easterseals does for the community. 'After this week, I hope everyone in this community has had a touchpoint on what our mission is and who we help at Easterseals,' Hogeboom said. Aylah Buscher gets services from Easterseals and said their services have helped her body and mind. 'I'm getting stronger, learning and gaining confidence,' Buscher said. The community rally will raise money and awareness for children with disabilities. As part of the Rally, Easterseals will be holding a telethon from April 21 through 25. Easterseals Community Rally 2025: Day 3 B.J. Wilken, the CEO of the Bloomington Normal YMCA, said they have shared a building with Easterseals for three years, and he said it's a great partnership that helps kids rehab every day. 'Donors and the community really love to see non-profits sharing space, they like non-profits sharing resources, and we like to take that donor dollar and stretch it just a little bit further,' Wilken said. PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Volunteers were taking calls on Wednesday for the third day of the Easterseals Community Rally Telethon. The community rally will raise money and awareness for children with disabilities. As part of the Rally, Easterseals will be holding a telethon from April 21 through 25. Easterseals Community Rally 2025: Day 2 Easterseals Board member Mark Scott said he is thankful for everybody giving back during the Community Rally. 'It's unbelievable, over 100 years, we service over 5,000 kids each and every year,' Scott said. 'We just thank everybody, and this community. Peoria is such an incredible giving community, with so many different organizations, and we're just proud to be a part of that.' Easterseals Ambassador Jessica Rosenbahm thanked everyone who helped her raise $9,095. 'Easterseals is a really good organization that helped me walk and talk and be friendly to people,' Rosenbahm said. 'If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't be where I am right now.' Easterseals Community Rally 2025: Day 1 Brandon Gore with the Mid-Illini Bandits said this is the third year they have hosted the Angels for Autism tournament that helped raise money for Easterseals. 'It means a lot to me because my youngest son is autistic, so this was a way I could help provide options and resources for people like my son,' Gore said.
