Yuengling beer expands to Michigan starting Aug. 11
It's the moment Michigan beer lovers have been waiting for — and no, you're not being punked this time. Yuengling, America's oldest brewery, is officially coming to the Great Lakes state this summer.
Eastown Distributors, based in northeast Wayne County and one of the companies selected to distribute the beer in Michigan, confirmed the news on Friday, June 6.
"Beer drinkers in the state of Michigan have been anticipating this for years," an Eastown Distributors spokesperson told the Free Press.
Detroit is among the cities where Yuengling will be available, starting on Aug. 11. A full list of locations and availability dates across the state has yet to be announced.
D.G. Yuengling & Son Inc. was founded in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, in 1829 by David G. Yuengling. It remains family-owned.
The company has flirted with expanding to Michigan before, fueling hopes and sparking rumors that never quite panned out. That history made some long-skeptical Michiganders cautious even as the news broke out.

"Hard to believe that it may happen after all the teasing that has happened over the years," one person wrote in the 'Bring Yuengling to Michigan' Facebook group on June 5.
"I sure hope this is true," another person commented.
