13-year-old bicyclist seriously injured after collision in Tahoe area
A 13-year-old girl was seriously injured Saturday morning after the bicycle she was riding was struck by a car in the South Lake Tahoe area. The California Highway Patrol reports that the girl was riding an E-bike when she was hit by an Acura MDX at the intersection of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road. A CHP press release said she was thrown into the air and hit a 'snow-paddle marker.' The girl, a resident of South Lake Tahoe, was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital with what the CHP called life-threatening injuries. No information was available Sunday on her condition. The car's driver, also a South Lake Tahoe resident, was described as a 56-year-old woman. Witnesses to the accident are asked to call Officer M. Renk at the CHP's South Lake Tahoe area office, at (530) 539-9500.

Edinburgh E-bike yobs wreck historic golf course as greenkeeper speaks of 'despair'
A gang of E-bike vandals have ripped up a historic Edinburgh golf course. The head greenkeeper at Braid Hills Golf Club has spoken of his despair, after around 15 riders roared across the greens. Gary Rodger branded the aftermath a 'scene of devastation' while speaking with the Daily Record. The course has been left with deep skid marks, with members 'appalled'. ADVERTISEMENT Gary said: 'One of our boys made a video of the young boys coming over a fairway and you could count around 15 of them against the skyline. "It was a grim sight, when you know what was going to happen next. I don't know if they are setting out to cause the damage or whether they just like the hills and contours, which cause natural ramps for them. Gary said the greenkeepers have been working long and hard to get the course in top condition for the prestigious Dispatch Trophy - which has run for 125 years. He said: "This is a club with such a rich history and these bikes are killing us. "The greens were looking pretty good but when we came to work and were faced with the damage it was a hammer blow." 'We are literally dreading this going on and on' -Credit:Supplied/Daily Record Gary's videos and images on X were shared worldwide, causing outrage in the USA and Australia among golf fans. He has made a complaint to police and hopes they can stop those responsible before the course suffers even worse damage. ADVERTISEMENT The course damage includes two greens that were left unplayable, plus grooves caused by deep skids in other parts of the course. Gary added: 'We have an 18 hole course that we have been focusing on and a nine hole course. They just keep coming back to the big course, which is really frustrating.' He said that efforts were being made to identify those responsible, including analysing various videos. He said: 'The stuff we have doesn't make faces clear but we are hoping that police might be able to put together whatever evidence is there and get an idea of who is doing this. 'We are literally dreading this going on and on. My first thought is to appeal to the better nature of those responsible in the hope they can accept that what they are doping might be having consequences way beyond what they ever intended. But we really just need it to stop.' ADVERTISEMENT In August last year a group of bikers were filmed wreaking havoc at Braid Hills, as horrified locals watched on. Three youths on motorised bikes were chewing up turf, ignoring the protests of witnesses who berated them and demanded that they stop. A video at the time showed a resident, yelling at the group before they beeped their horns at him and took off from the scene.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott gave an unexpected gift to his team: 'It was truly priceless'
The Dallas Cowboys might be more used to Mustangs or the prancing horse of Ferrari, but quarterback Dak Prescott has given his teammates a different kind of trusty steed. The 31-year-old partnered with EMOTO Supply Co. to deliver CAKE Makka electric mopeds to each of the NFL team's players, and all the machines were branded with jersey numbers and adorned in Cowboys colors. It's a fun gift for the squad after a tough season that featured a Prescott injury, a 7-10 record, and no playoff appearance, and it looks like they all enjoyed their first experience with the electric bikes. "Dak's leadership and thoughtfulness are truly inspiring," said EMOTO Supply Co. founder and managing partner Michael Joyce, per CW33. "I get to see reactions of people's first times on electric bikes daily, but seeing the players' reactions when they stepped on the CAKE bikes, it was truly priceless. We are fortunate to have had the opportunity to curate this end-of-season gift for Dak." The standard Makka bike has a top speed of 28 mph and can cover 34 miles on a single charge. EMOTO says it is a "machine built to last" and perfect for carrying smaller bags and groceries. The Makka can help encourage owners to leave their gas-guzzling cars behind for shorter trips. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 28% of the United States' production of planet-warming pollution comes from vehicles. Keeping the car at home when possible can help to shrink transportation's negative environmental impact. While the electricity used to charge the bikes might be created by burning dirty fuels, you can further reduce pollution by filling the battery with electricity created by solar panels. What's more, with no tailpipe on the back, the Makka won't release health-harming toxic gasses and particulate matter when zipping from A to B. YouTubers enjoyed the video and had praise for the gift that Prescott chose. "Awesome gift; you can see the joy on the players' faces!" one commenter wrote. "Excellent choice of gift too!" "Welcome to the Ebike world!" another person added. "Lots of fun!"
