Gazprom Neft expresses interest in Iraq's Nasiriyah field
Baghdad ( -During the Russia-Iraq Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Tsivilev informed reporters that Gazprom Neft had expressed interest in the Nasiriyah field development project in southern Iraq.
The enormous Nasiriyah oil field is believed to have 4.4 billion barrels of reserves.
Gazprom Neft has been running Iraq's Badra project since 2010, and commercial oil deliveries from the field began in August of 2014. Badra, which has geological reserves estimated at 3 billion barrels of oil, is situated in the Wasit region in eastern Iraq.
The Badra project is jointly owned, with the Oil Exploration Company representing the Iraqi government owning 25% of the corporation, Gazprom Neft owning 30%, Kogas (22.5%), Petronas (15%), and TPAO (7.5%).
