Farmers' unity forced govt to start moong procurement: Cong
Bhopal: State Congress president Jitu Patwari on Saturday claimed that the govt buckled under pressure as farmers unitedly demanded the acquisition of the moong crop under MSP (minimum support price). Chief minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday morning announced that registration for moong acquisition would start from June 19. Reacting to the announcement of the purchase of moong at the support price, the state Congress chief said, "This is the victory of unity and awareness of the farmers." He congratulated the farmers of the state and said that they raised their voices unitedly and forced the govt to take the decision of moong acquisition. Speaking to reporters, Patwari said, "This is the same chief minister Mohan Yadav who, until a few days ago, termed moong as poison and even refused to buy moong from the leader of Kisan Sangh, saying that the state govt has no such intention. But when the farmers of the entire state stood up in one voice, raised their voice, and warned of agitation on the ground, the govt woke up, and for the first time in 19 months, chief minister Mohan Yadav appeared to be a sensitive person. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Samborondon: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. But this is only because of the strength of farmers, not because of the govt." He said that this fight of the farmers is still incomplete. "What happened to the promise of Rs 2,700 per quintal of wheat? What happened to the MSP of Rs 6,000 for soyabean? What happened to the rate of Rs 3,100 per quintal for paddy? All these promises are still incomplete, and the Congress party stands against every fraud that has happened with the farmers of Madhya Pradesh," he said. From liquor dens to law and order: BMP-4 ignites police dreams for Dumraon women
1 2 Buxar: Each morning in the villages of Banjhu Dera, Noniya Dera and Nandan near the Bihar Military Police-4 (BMP-4) campus in Dumraon, a group of young women gather with a shared goal – to join the Bihar Police. Among them are Chanchal Kumari and Arti Kumari, joined by nearly 30 peers, all undergoing daily training with focus and determination. These villages, once associated with the illicit liquor trade, are now witnessing a quiet shift. The inspiration behind it – women constables posted at BMP-4, whose presence and discipline have sparked ambition among local youth. The change began in 2012 with the establishment of BMP-4. The momentum grew stronger with the launch of the Bihar Military Police Training Centre (BMPTC) in 2020. What was once a region with minimal police presence is now experiencing renewed safety, structure and aspiration. "The presence of both institutions has not only boosted security but also opened up employment opportunities in the police department," said a local resident. Sunil Kumar, ADG (special branch) and a native of the Dumraon subdivision, credited the increased police visibility with inspiring local youth to pursue careers in law enforcement – bringing not only discipline but also economic stability to their families. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Quito: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. Empezar ahora Registrarse Undo The ripple effect has reached the local economy. Recruitment drives and training activities have created new demand for housing, goods and services. "I used to be unemployed," said a vendor outside the training centre. "Now I earn around Rs 1,000 a day," he added. Ajay Kumar Pandey, commandant of BMP-4 and BMP-18, said, "There is a marked shift in mindset and law and order in the area. The combined strength of BMP-4 and BMP-18 stands at 1,660 constables, including 523 women." Spread over 200 acres, BMP-4 is a reflection of structured development with well-planned roads and modern lighting. Its foundation stone was laid in 2002 by then Bihar DGP R R Prasad. The journey was not without challenges. The construction of BMP-4 involved the acquisition of large tracts of land, including portions of the Haryana Cattle Breeding Farm. Bringing the facility to Dumraon required concerted efforts from both R R Prasad and Sunil Kumar, who was then the SP of Buxar. "The institution stands as a symbol of progress and aspiration for the region's youth," said Bhashmakar Dubey, a resident of Dumraon town. And for the young women training nearby, it represents something even greater – a path to empowerment and a break from the past. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . One last selfie: Udaipur doctor family's final moments before Air India crash in Ahmedabad
NEW DELHI: Amid the smouldering debris of the Air India crash in Ahmedabad lies a phone that may never be recovered — but the last photo it captured endures. It shows a smiling family from Rajasthan, ready to embark on a new chapter in London. That moment of joy has now become a symbol of the devastating tragedy that claimed 265 lives. For Dr Komi Vyas, a well-regarded physician at Udaipur's Pacific Medical College and Hospital, the journey marked the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. She had recently resigned from her job to join her husband, Dr Prateek Joshi, who had been living and working in London for over three years. Along with their three children — daughter Miraya and twin boys Pradyut and Nakul — the family was finally set to reunite overseas after years of planning. The family from Banswara had long dreamt of building a life together in the UK. But just minutes after take-off from Ahmedabad on Thursday, the flight to London Gatwick ended in a fiery crash, bringing their dreams to a horrifying end. Colleagues at Pacific Hospital recalled how Komi had excitedly shared her plans just two days before the flight. 'She spoke with so much hope and happiness,' said hospital chairman Ashish Agarwal. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like El Goaltal: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. Empezar ahora Registrarse Undo In Udaipur, where the children studied, the loss sent shockwaves through the medical and academic communities alike. Lokesh Shukla, a close friend and neighbour in Banswara, said Prateek had returned to India a month ago to help with preparations. 'They were full of excitement — shopping for clothes, school supplies, even home décor — everything for their new life,' he said. Back in Banswara's Mohan Colony, opposite the district collector's residence, the family's home turned into a centre of mourning. Neighbours and friends poured in, many inconsolable. Shops in the locality downed shutters in a gesture of solidarity. Dr Prateek's father, JP Joshi, runs a diagnostic centre in Udaipur, while his mother, Dr Anita Joshi, is also from the medical field. The family was known not only for their professional success but for their kindness and humility. Relatives such as Hemant and Madhukar Joshi remained too distraught to speak. 'They were the kind of family everyone admired — grounded, loving, and generous,' said one neighbour. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Power outage cripples Derabassi civil hospital; DC orders probe
1 2 Mohali: In a harrowing episode that exposed the fragility of public healthcare infrastructure, Derabassi civil hospital was thrown into turmoil on Thursday afternoon after a sudden power outage left patients and staff grappling in the dark — both literally and figuratively. With temperatures hovering around 42°C, the hospital's power grid buckled under pressure, triggering a blackout that paralyzed critical services. To make matters worse, the hospital's backup generator failed to kick in, leaving emergency rooms, operation theatres, and patient wards without electricity. "It was like being trapped in an oven," said one distraught attendant. "There were no fans, no lights—just darkness and heat." While hospital officials downplayed the incident, claiming the outage lasted only 25 minutes, eyewitnesses and patient families insisted the blackout stretched close to two hours. A system under siege Senior medical officer Dr Dharmender Singh acknowledged the failure, attributing it to an overloaded grid and a tripped generator. "The heatwave has pushed our systems to the brink," he said. The outage couldn't have come at a worse time. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Guayaquil: Ecuatorianos: generen un segundo ingreso con Amazon CFD. Empezar ahora Registrarse Undo With the hospital already stretched thin due to rising heat-related illnesses, the blackout disrupted emergency care and left vulnerable patients in distress. Probe ordered, accountability demanded Taking swift action, Mohali deputy commissioner Komal Mittal ordered an immediate probe into the incident. "This kind of failure in a medical facility is unacceptable," she said. "I've directed the civil surgeon to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a detailed report."
