Man on walk rescued after falling into the River Wye in Derbyshire

A man on a family walk was rescued after he fell more than five metres into a river in family had been on a walk in Chee Dale on Sunday when one of the group slipped and fell into the River Buxton Mountain Rescue Team said the group called for help and other family members swam to assist the injured man. The rescue team said the casualty was assessed at a "challenging location", where a spinal injury could not be ruled out, but the team confirmed no such injury was sustained after a more thorough examination at ground level. As part of the rescue, the team said it established a rope rescue system and lowered a team member along with an air ambulance man was then moved to safer ground, where a more thorough assessment could be carried out, the team added. A spinal injury was ruled out, and the man was able to walk back to the land ambulance with assistance from two team Mountain Rescue Team said due to the potential for a difficult stretcher carry, support was also requested from the Edale Mountain Rescue Team.

Father-and-son Peak District outing ends in injury A mountain rescue team helped to carry the man down the hill A father-and-son day out in the Peak District ended in disaster when the dad suffered an ankle injury in a fall and needed help from a mountain rescue team. The pair had been bouldering around Stanage Edge at about 17:00 BST on Saturday when the father fell from Crescent Arete above Stanage Plantation. Edale Mountain Rescue Team attended and treated the injury before carrying the man on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance. The team praised the son for providing first aid to his father prior to their arrival.
