Blockbuster Mock NBA Trade Pairs Anthony Edwards on Timberwolves With $197 Million All-Star

Blockbuster Mock NBA Trade Pairs Anthony Edwards on Timberwolves With $197 Million All-Star originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Minnesota Timberwolves have reached the conference finals two years in a row. That's a big accomplishment for a franchise with zero championships. Advertisement The Timberwolves lost to the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 conference finals in five games and fell to the Oklahoma City Thunder in this year's conference finals in five games. Many pundits believe Minnesota needs another explosive playmaker and scorer next to All-Star shooting guard Anthony Edwards for the team to reach the NBA Finals. With that said, Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World proposed that the Timberwolves make a blockbuster trade with the Memphis Grizzlies this offseason. This NBA trade idea sends Ja Morant from Memphis to Minnesota. Petre Thomas-Imagn Images Bitar proposed that the Timberwolves trade Jaden McDaniels, Naz Reid and two 2025 first-round picks to the Grizzlies for Ja Morant and John Konchar this offseason. Advertisement "Edwards has already shown he can thrive on-ball and off, and Morant, for all his chaos, is a relentless rim attacker who collapses defenses like few others," Bitar wrote. "Together, they'd form a devastating blend of power, speed, and creativity. Defenders would be left guessing, help schemes would be shredded, and the pace? Good luck keeping up." A two-time All-Star, Morant appeared in 50 games for the Grizzlies this season. He averaged 23.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 7.3 assists while shooting 45.4% from the field, 30.9% from beyond the arc and 82.4% from the foul line. Morant was the second overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The Grizzlies have won just one postseason series since drafting Morant out of Murray State. The 25-year-old Morant has career averages of 22.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.4 assists. He signed a five-year, $197 million extension with Memphis in 2022. Advertisement Morant will make $39.4 million next season and doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract.
