Oliver Glasner stalling on new Crystal Palace contract after transfer woes with deal up in just 12 months
CRYSTAL PALACE boss Oliver Glasner will hold off signing a new deal at the club until he sees how serious the board is about backing him in the transfer market. The Austrian manager has been a massive success in south London, defying the odds and delivering the club's first major trophy in its history. 3 3 3 His FA Cup success has seen him linked to jobs elsewhere, but he has recently stated that he will remain at the club for the upcoming season. However Glasner is in no rush to commit long-term with just over a year remaining on his current deal. SunSport sources say he wants clear assurances that summer signings will be completed in good time before contract talks progress to the next stage. A Palace insider told SunSport: 'He has a year left on his deal and is just waiting to see how this summer goes before signing a new one. 'He was very critical of last summer, so the onus is on Parish to get deals done in time for pre-season. 'Waiting until the last couple of days to bring in four players wasn't ideal.' Eddie Nketiah, Maxence Lacroix, Matt Turner and Trevoh Chalobah all arrived at the club on transfer deadline day. Something Glasner himself highlighted during his press conference last season: 'It's not a public discussion - I've already mentioned it several times. We could have done better in the transfer window. 'With four signings on deadline day, it's not how you wish a transfer window would work.' Palace's struggles in the transfer window seemed to translate to the pitch, with Glasner's side failing to win any of their first EIGHT Premier League games. 'Raiders of The Selhurst Park' - Bidding war for Guehi and Eze imminient? The Eagles are keen to build on a promising end to the campaign and to hold on to key stars like Eberechi Eze and Marc Guehi. Both are attracting interest, Eze from Tottenham and Guehi from Newcastle. SunSport understands Glasner wants serious reinforcements, particularly in midfield and up front, to help Palace climb the table and mount a strong Europa League campaign, following their FA Cup triumph. Talks between Glasner and the board are ongoing, but for now, all eyes are on the transfer window before any pens come out.

Eddie Nketiah double helps Crystal Palace keep party going against Wolves
Glad all over? Seventy-two hours after lifting the first major trophy in the club's history, the Crystal Palace faithful welcomed their FA Cup heroes back to south London with a raucous reception at Selhurst Park. 'I hope all of you have been celebrating,' Oliver Glasner wrote in a special-edition FA Cup winners' programme — and, sore heads or not, the visit of Wolverhampton Wanderers offered the chance to toast their historic achievement one more time. Any notion of a Wembley hangover was put to bed as Eddie Nketiah's first-half double sent Glasner's side on their way to a deserved 4-2 win, which also took Palace beyond the 50-point mark for the first time in the Premier League era. Palace set new Premier League points record
Crystal Palace's remarkable rise under Oliver Glasner continued last night as they reached a historic milestone in the Premier League era. Their 4-2 victory over Wolves saw the Eagles hit 52 points for the 2024/25 season - the most they've ever achieved since the competition began in 1992. Advertisement The result came just a little over 72 hours after Palace lifted the FA Cup and they didn't let the celebrations slow them down. Goals from Eddie Nketiah (who bagged a brace), Ben Chilwell, and Eberechi Eze ensured a convincing win and another three points added to an already impressive campaign. Crystal Palace's 52-point haul this season is their highest ever in the Premier League era, surpassing their previous best of 49 points, which they achieved in the 2023/24, 2018/19, and 1992/93 campaigns. And it's not just the points total grabbing attention. Palace have picked up 22 wins across all competitions this season - the second most they've ever managed in a top-flight campaign. Advertisement The only time they've done better was back in 1990/91, when they won 28. Glasner deserves huge credit for the turnaround. He's now been in charge for 50 Premier League matches and has picked up 76 points (20 wins, 16 draws, 14 losses) – more than any other Palace boss in their first 50 top-flight games. With their spot in next season's UEFA Europa League already secured, there's a genuine sense that this is a new era at Selhurst Park. European football is on the way, and for a club that's often flirted with the lower half of the table, this feels like a significant turning point.

A perfect story – Oliver Glasner delighted to give Joel Ward winning send-off
Oliver Glasner lauded Crystal Palace's 'perfect' ending for Joel Ward after they beat Wolves 4-2 in their final home fixture of the season just days after their FA Cup triumph at Wembley. Departing skipper Ward was replaced and waved farewell to the south London club following 13 years of service, on a day when cup final match-winner Eberechi Eze continued his scoring form. Advertisement He came off the bench at Selhurst Park to grab his side's fourth as Palace came from behind to secure three points. 'When you write a book, you want a happy ending and it's like this. We had the high and now we had a great ending and it was everything,' Glasner said post-match. 'It's only three days after the win at Wembley, with Joel Ward captaining the team with a great performance. Getting the win for him in his final home game at Crystal Palace is a perfect story. 'Dreams come true and it was one of the toughest talks I've had to make to tell him (Ward) we won't extend his contract here because he's such a lovely guy and a great guy for the group.' Advertisement Emmanuel Agbadou's header in the 24th minute gave Vitor Pereira's men the lead before Eddie Nketiah's five-minute double put him on three for the league season and seven overall since his reported £30m switch from Arsenal in the summer. Chelsea loanee Ben Chilwell was rotated into the side at the expense of Tyrick Mitchell and Glasner's decision paid dividends with the full-back's deflected free-kick adding their third before Jorgen Strand Larsen pulled one back. Eze produced a signature solo run and finish to round off a memorable win. 'It's a big achievement. Winning the FA Cup here and being the first Austrian manager to do so,' Glasner added. Advertisement 'We get the players in the positions where they can score. Ismaila (Sarr) got the assist for Eddie today, we could see with Eze, we could see with (Jean-Philippe) Mateta, we can see all of this on the training ground. 'We get the players into those situations but they always need to be focused in and out of possession, they need to run, they need to invest and then it comes down to their quality. They play in the Premier League and so should have the quality to score goals.' Wolves were handed their third successive defeat as their form continues to slip since securing Premier League survival. 'To compete in the Premier League we need to be focused until the last minute and until the last game,' Wolves boss Pereira said. Advertisement 'We can't compete at this level if we offer the goals to the opposition. We came here to compete and today I saw a lot of mistakes and against this kind of team like Crystal Palace, Brighton and Brentford we need to be at our best level.'

Crystal Palace 4-2 Wolves - the fans' verdict
We asked for your thoughts after Tuesday's Premier League game between Crystal Palace and Wolves at Selhurst are some of your comments:Palace fansAl: A great night and a sad one. Great to get record points and Eddie Nketiah netting two goals. Romain Esse looks dangerous. Tears around the ground when Wardy went off in a final goodbye. He was so emotional. Just the champions to beat next at their home. We'll try to get 10th place and then next season begins at Wembley Great performance from the lads that didn't play in the final. Nketiah showing how good a striker he is, with great movement and finishing. Esse with a Zaha-esque run to set up the first goal. Franca and Devenny came on and impressed. Eze scored a simply class I feel sorry for Nketiah. Hopefully he will get more of a look-in next season. He is Party atmosphere from the first to the last minute continued from Saturday's FA Cup win. Great to see Wardy lead the team out for one last time under the lights at Selhurst Park, with an emotional speech at the end. It brings an amazing career and historic season to an end. A team of Joel What fabulous momentum to end the season with. Here's hoping our stars stick with Palace, especially as we head into fansScott: Poor and absolutely shocking. This was not a good performance. Give new players a chance for sure, but we didn't have any players who were good except for Strand Larsen. I'm not happy with the full-time scoreline. A poor performance on the What has happened? We clearly got complacent after the six-game run. We need to win on the final day and then move on from this inconsistent Wolves had a long rest before this match but were out-fought and out-thought. I was surprised at Palace's intensity after their massive FA Cup win - they dominated in tackles and challenges. They were a level above. Wolves' defence parted in a way that I hadn't seen since Gary O'Neil's management. A shocking Typical end of season results. We are safe so the last few games are treated as warm downs or practice matches. End of season performances don't always translate into how the next season will go but we have been mostly poor over the past three or four seasons, twice having to change manager to avoid the drop. I hope it's not third time unlucky next season.
