More than 150 attend ag career fair from Edison State, Miami Co. Farm Bureau

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – More than 150 students explored a future in agriculture last month at a career fair at the Miami County Farm Bureau. The fair, a co-production with Edison State Community College, gave the students a chance to meet with local businesses and colleges to learn about career opportunities. the second Agriculture Career Fair on Sunday, March 27. 'Bringing together 17 businesses and colleges to meet with over 150 students shows the strength of our agriculture community and the bright future ahead for these young professionals,' said Taylor Watkins, Organization Director at the Miami County Farm Bureau. 'The Agriculture Career Fair is a great event that showcases the wide array of employment opportunities for young people in our area,' said Brad Lentz, Agriculture Program Director at Edison State. 'Local businesses have opened their doors to our program by providing internships, educational support, and giving our graduates jobs! It's great to see these young people networking with companies and planting the seeds for future career success.' Edison State planning campus safety improvements with $130K grant

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Edison State Community College is receiving a $130,000 grant to improve safety on campus. Lee Harmon, chief of police and director of public safety at Edison State, said the funding will allow the educational facility to maintain and improve the level of safety for everyone on campus. 'With the award of the Campus Safety Grant, we will make further enhancements college wide to continue to ensure our students and staff have a safe learning and working environment,' said Harmon. 'We're very pleased and grateful that the Ohio Department of Higher Education and the Department of Public Safety's Ohio School Safety Center have provided us with the opportunity to do so.'
