Two men charged with first-degree murder after fatal Edmonton shooting

Two men are facing first-degree murder charges after a fatal shooting in southeast Edmonton earlier this month. On Tuesday, police announced charges against the pair following the April 6 shooting of 52-year-old Darrell Demchuk, who was gunned down near 66 Street and 38 Avenue. Officers attempted emergency first aid, but Demchuk died on scene. Last week, detectives said the area was busy with pedestrians and vehicle traffic and appealed for witnesses. They were also seeking information about a blue 2016 Honda Pilot believed to be the suspect vehicle. On Sunday, officers arrested Jerad Wuttunee, 36, and Brandon Herry, 45, who are both charged with first-degree murder. First-degree murder charges indicate investigators believe the killing was planned and deliberate, though police said it does not appear the deceased and accused knew each other. Two teens charged with first-degree murder in woman's homicide: Edmonton police

Edmonton police have charged a pair of teens after a woman was killed in February. On Feb. 21, at around 8:40 p.m., police said they responded to an assault report at a townhouse complex near Homestead Crescent and Hooke Road. They found a woman with gunshot wounds who was declared dead on scene, officers said. The autopsy, completed on Feb. 25, determined that Angel Daniels, 26, died of gunshot wounds in a homicide. On April 4, a 17-year-old boy and Mustafa Sidow Ali, 18, were both charged with first-degree murder, police said Monday. Edmonton piano teacher faces more sexual assault charges: EPS

An Edmonton piano teacher who was already facing sexual assault charges involving a 10-year-old girl last year is facing more sex assault charges involving another child. Last year, Cassius Alleyne, 60, was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference after a report of a 10-year-old girl having been assaulted on several occasions, police said in a Friday release. On March 17, officers began investigating another report of sexual assault from a 9-year-old child that reportedly took place between 2022 and 2023. On Wednesday, Alleyne was arrested and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. Alleyne was released on conditions, including not having contact or communication with anyone under 16. He's also not allowed to attend any public swimming area, school, daycare, playground, youth shelter or public library. Police believe there may be more victims and encourage anyone 'who believes they have been victimized by the accused' to contact EPS at 780-423-4567.
