West Ham and Forest charged by FA over melee
West Ham and Nottingham Forest have both been charged for failing to control their players during the final minutes of their Premier League meeting on Sunday. Forest won 2-1 at London Stadium to maintain their bid to qualify for next season's Champions League but there were unsavoury scenes deep into stoppage time, with both sets of players involved in a Ham midfielders Edson Alvarez and Carlos Soler were booked, while Forest defenders Murillo and Morato were also shown yellow cards for their game lasted 112 minutes and 55 seconds because of a long period of stoppage time, including a lengthy delay to determine whether Nikola Milenkovic's winner was offside."West Ham United and Nottingham Forest have been charged in relation to the mass confrontation at their Premier League game on Sunday, 18 May," said the FA. "It's alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn't behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 103rd minute."West Ham United and Nottingham Forest have to provide their responses by Friday, 23 May."The Hammers travel to Ipswich in Sunday's Premier League finale, while Forest will need to beat Chelsea and hope other results go their way to qualify for the Champions League.

West Ham and Nottingham Forest charged by FA after melee at London Stadium
Defender Murillo and Edson Alvarez clashed in the 13th minute of time added on of Forest's 2-1 win at the London Stadium. That sparked a mass confrontation which ended with Forest pair Murillo and Felipe Morata and Hammers duo Alvarez and Carlos Soler going into the book. An FA statement read: "West Ham and Nottingham Forest have been charged in relation to the mass confrontation at their Premier League game on Sunday, May 18. "It's alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players didn't behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the 103rd minute. "West Ham and Nottingham Forest have to provide their responses by Friday, May 23." It is the latest in a long raft of FA disciplinary charges for Forest since their return to the Premier League in 2022. PA

Good afternoon and welcome to clockwatch coverage of this afternoon's four 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League. Brighton host West Ham and will be without striker Joao Pedro after his red card against Brentford last week. West Ham will be without Edson Alvarez but are hopeful Aaron Wan-Bissaka will return after the full-back missed out last weekend. Newcastle, with Eddie Howe back in the dugout, welcome Ipswich to St James' Park. Fabian Schar is edging closer to a return and could feature in some capacity this afternoon but Sven Botman is likely to miss out. Ipswich will be without defender Leif Davis who starts his three-game suspension. Striker Liam Delap is in line to start. Ipswich will be relegated if they fail to win, or if West Ham avoid defeat against Brighton. Southampton take on Fulham and have no new injury concerns. Fulham on the other hand will be without striker Rodrigo Muniz but could welcome Emile Smith Rowe back after the midfielder missed last weekend's game against west London neighbours Chelsea. Wolves face relegated Leicester and the home side are expected to have Jose Sa back in goal after the goalkeeper picked up an injury in the warm-up ahead of last weekend's victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Leicester will be missing Stephy Mavididi after he suffered a muscle injury against Liverpool. Kasey McAteer could feature after returning to training this week.

AS Monaco are closing in on the signing of Ajax midfielder Jordan Henderson (34), according to a report from . Monaco have been in the market for a midfielder throughout the January transfer window and have made moves for several targets. Their attempts to sign Edson Alvarez on loan from West Ham United were rebuffed by the Premier League club. Les Monégasques had been agreed a deal to sign Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe, however, the Frenchman had a calf issue, which was detected in his medical. Needing a player fit to play from the off, Monaco therefore pulled out of the deal. Henderson has therefore emerged as the priority target. As per Romano, Monaco are closing in on the signing of the former Liverpool capain. A permanent deal with a deal running until June 2026 has been evoked by the journalist with the Principality club looking to get the deal over the line before the deadline early next week.
