Cameroon celebrates 53rd National Day with Egyptian officials in Cairo - City Lights - Life & Style
Cameroon celebrated its 53rd National Day in Cairo on Tuesday, hosted by Ambassador Mohamadou Labarang, Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps.
Egypt's Minister of Public Business Sector, Mohamed Shimy, as well as ambassadors, diplomats, and business figures engaged in African affairs attended the event.
Ambassador Labarang underscored the growing ties between Egypt and Cameroon in his remarks, highlighting cooperation across investment, agriculture, education, and training.
He announced plans to hold an Egyptian-Cameroonian economic forum in Cairo next month to deepen trade and investment between the two nations.
This year's celebration was held under the theme The Army and the Nation Together for a Cameroon Moving Towards Peace and Prosperity, reflecting the country's emphasis on unity and national integration.
While noting that Cameroon is often associated with football legends like Roger Milla, Labarang said the country also boasts a strong and diversified economy—an asset that has continued to shape bilateral cooperation since independence.
Minister Shimy praised the longstanding relationship between Egypt and Cameroon, reaffirming Egypt's commitment under President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's leadership to expanding economic and development partnerships across the continent.
