Macron: Egypt amazing in academic capabilities
CAIRO, April 7 (MENA) – French President Emmanuel Macron said Monday Egypt is amazing in its academic capabilities at the level of the Arab region. In a speech during the Egyptian-French Universities Forum, Macron expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributes to strengthening university cooperation between Egypt and France, saying he is proud of French-Egyptian partnership. Egypt is one of the oldest civilizations in the world and one of the youngest countries, he said, noting that there has been a 22 percent increase in the number of Egyptian students enrolled in France. The French president said the French University in Egypt is currently on a remarkable path, and that it aims to receive approximately 7,000 students on a new campus. The architectural design will be pioneering and consistent with sustainability standards, Macron said, adding the French university would welcome students from Egypt and the African continent. Within a few months, the French University will become a reality, and within two and a half years the edifice will be complete. The French President thanked all the university representatives who attended today to sign the various partnerships and accompany this wonderful project of the French University in Egypt, which constitutes a bridge to a broader partnership that aims to include all research institutions. Macron indicated his commitment to training teachers and offering dual degrees, noting that he wants to increase the number of universities offering these dual degrees and that the private sector, which believes in Egyptian youth, can be mobilized for this purpose. Macron said that scientific research is the only means of progress and must be supported without any restrictions. (MENA)

He wrote on his official "X" (formerly Twitter) page, "I came to Cairo to reaffirm our desire to make more efforts together in all fields." He added, "I am very pleased to move forward with President El-Sisi for the prosperity of our two countries." President Macron also tweeted, "Egypt, France, and Jordan, hand in hand, to say together that the voice of peace is the only possible option." Egyptian, French, and Jordanian leaders held a joint phone call with US President Donald Trump today, on the sidelines of the tripartite summit held in Cairo on April 7, 2025. The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, indicated that the three leaders discussed with President Trump ways to ensure an urgent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need to resume full access for the delivery of humanitarian aid and the immediate release of all hostages and detainees. Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy added that the three leaders emphasized the importance of creating the appropriate conditions to achieve a genuine political horizon and mobilize international efforts to end the suffering of the Palestinian people, restore security and peace for all, and implement the two-state solution, noting that the three leaders and President Trump agreed to remain in close contact. The official spokesperson mentioned that the call also addressed the importance of accelerating the achievement of peace in Ukraine in line with international law and the shared need for international security. Macron received by President Sisi during his visit to Cairo - file CAIRO - 7 April 2025: Former Assistant Foreign Minister Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy, stressed that French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Egypt is of great importance to both countries, in statements he made commenting on the visit. He said that the visit comes at a particularly dangerous and sensitive time, given the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, the fierce war against the people of the Gaza Strip, and its impact on the security and stability of the Middle East. In a statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Monday, Ambassador Hegazy said that this visit represents a high-level diplomatic initiative in light of the tripartite summit bringing together the leaders of Egypt and Jordan with the French President to discuss the dangers threatening the Palestinian cause, most notably Israel's attempts to expel Palestinians from their land as part of a forced displacement plan. Hegazy also discussed the Egyptian-Arab plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. He also highlighted the bilateral dimension of the visit and the importance of the meeting between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his French counterpart. The two leaders will discuss the possibility of advancing the Gaza reconstruction plan—which France has welcomed—along with the international reconstruction conference that Egypt intends to hold this month in cooperation with the United Nations and regional and international partners. Hegazy emphasized the importance of President Macron's upcoming visit to the city of Arish and its port, near the Rafah crossing. Ambassador Mohamed Hegazy concluded his remarks by saying that Egypt, along with its regional and international partners, led by France, "is playing a pivotal role in saving the region and restoring its security and stability by halting the Palestinian bloodshed, deterring Israel from genocidalizing and oppressing the Palestinian people, thwarting its displacement plan to liquidate the Palestinian cause, and launching a process that leads to reconstruction and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state alongside Israel, a path on which both Egypt and France agree."
