However Emmy revealed that her parents had to miss her performance in front of millions at Eurovision, as they have stayed in Norway to mind her pet kitten, Suzy.
Speaking to Henry McKean of Newstalk, Emmy said: "My parents are at home watching the kitten because my boyfriend joined me here.
"Someone had to watch the kitten. She is called Suzy. We've had her for five months now. She is adorable and I miss her so much".
Asked if she thought her Irish entry Laika Party would qualify, Emmy said: "It's a tricky question about the qualifying because all my favourites from the past years went out in the semi-finals, so I am the worst person to ask that question."

Emmy's song was inspired by the stray Soviet dog who was sent on a doomed space mission in 1957.

Judge's blown away by Emmy's performance
Reports at the time said she was euthanised after a week, but conflicting stories after the Soviet collapse claimed Laika apparently died of overheating after only a few hours into her journey outside the Earth's atmosphere.
However, Emmy ode to the poor pooch imagines a different outcome, hence the positive song title and upbeat music.

Discussing the story behind the song, Emmy said: "What happened to Laika was extremely sad and heartbreaking, so I wanted to create a scenario where she gets to be happy and alive instead because all animals deserve to be happy and alive, so that's what the song is about."
