People of PoK part of Indian family, day not far when they will return to India: Rajnath
In an address at the CII Business Summit, he said 'Make-in-India' in the defence sector has been an essential component in the country's national security and it played a key role in India's effective action against terrorism during Operation Sindoor. Laying out India's policy approach towards Pakistan, Singh said New Delhi has 'redesigned and redefined' its strategy and response to terrorism and that possible dialogue with Islamabad will be only on terrorism and PoK. New Delhi, May 29 (PTI) People of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are part of India's 'own family' and the day is not far when they will return to the Indian mainstream by listening to their inner voice, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday. In the remarks, Singh appeared to be largely attempting to reach out to people of PoK saying India considers them to be part of its 'own' family and exuded confidence that they will return voluntarily. 'I believe that the people of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are our own, part of our family,' he said. 'We are committed to the resolution of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' (One India, Best India) and we have full faith that those of our brothers who are geographically and politically separated from us today, will also return to the mainstream of India someday or the other with self-respect, listening to their voice of soul,' he said. Most of the people there feel a deep connection with India, there are only a few who have been misled, he said. The defence minister said the unification of the PoK with India depends on 'the cultural, social and economic prosperity of this country'. He said most of the people in PoK feel a 'deep connection' with India and only a few of them have been 'misled'. 'The situation of our brothers and sisters living in PoK is similar to that of Shakti Singh, the younger brother of brave warrior Maharana Pratap.' 'Even after separation, the confidence and faith of the elder brother towards his younger brother remains intact,' Singh said. 'India always talks about connecting hearts, and we believe that by walking on the path of love, unity and truth, the day is not far when our own part, PoK, will return and say, I am India, I have returned,' he said. In a clear message to Pakistan, Singh also said the business of terrorism is not cost effective and it will come with a heavy price as Islamabad has realised now. His comments came three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is for the youth of Pakistan to step forward and 'free Pakistan from the disease of terrorism'. The defence minister described 'Make-in-India' as crucial for national security and prosperity, stating that the use of indigenous systems during Operation Sindoor has proved that India has the power to penetrate any armour of the enemy. 'We destroyed the terrorist hideouts and then the military bases. We could have done a lot more, but we presented a great example of coordination of power and restraint,' he said. In his remarks, Singh also highlighted India's domestic defence capabilities. India's defence export was less than Rs 1000 crore 10 years ago but it has now reached a record figure of Rs 23,500 crore, he said. Today, it has been proven that Make-in-India in defence is essential for both India's security and prosperity, he said. Today, we are not just building fighter jets or missile systems and we are also preparing for new-age warfare technology, he said. Singh also spoke about India's ambitious plan to build a fifth-generation stealth fighter jet — the advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA). The defence ministry this week cleared the 'execution model' to design and produce the aircraft. Singh emphasised that through the AMCA 'execution model', the private sector will get an opportunity to participate in the project along with public sector companies for the first time. 'Under the AMCA project, the plan is to develop five prototypes, which will be followed by series production. It is a key milepost in the history of the Make-in-India programme,' he said. 'People of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are our own, part of our family': Rajnath Singh
Rajnath Singh NEW DELHI: At the CII Annual Business Summit 2025, defence minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday reiterated India's hardened position on Pakistan while sending a pointed message of solidarity to the people of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), describing them as an integral part of India. "We have recalibrated our engagement and scope of dialogue with Pakistan. Now, whenever there will be talks, it will be only on terrorism and PoK," Singh declared. Emphasising India's enduring commitment to reunification, he added, 'I believe that the people of Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are our own, part of our family. We are committed to the resolution of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and we have full faith that our brothers who are geographically and politically separated from us today, will also return to the mainstream of India someday or the other. ' Defence minister used the platform to highlight India's evolving doctrine on cross-border terrorism, stating that Pakistan is now 'paying a heavy price' for sponsoring terror. 'Running the business of terrorism is not cost-effective. Today, Pakistan has realised that it has to pay a heavy price for it. We have redesigned and redefined both India's strategy and response against terrorism,' he said. Referring to the recent military offensive, Operation Sindoor , Singh underlined how indigenous defence capabilities played a pivotal role. 'In Operation Sindoor, the people of the whole country have seen, understood and felt the success of the Make in India campaign . Make in India is an essential component of India's National Security. If we did not have this capability, India's forces would not have been able to take such effective action against terrorism from lower Pakistan to PoK,' the minister said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier echoed the same hardline approach, saying, 'There will be no talks and no trade with Pakistan. If there are talks, they will only be about Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.' He also warned that if Pakistan continues to export terror, it would be left 'begging for every drop of water,' referring to India's intention to block its share of river water from flowing into the neighbouring country. Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, as a strong counterterror strategy to fight Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. Indian armed forces targeted and destroyed nine terror infrastructure sites in Pakistan and PoK, including key facilities belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.

Punishment for terrorists & sympathisers should be same: J&K L-G
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha, has asserted that the punishment for terrorists and their sympathisers should be the same. While laying the foundation stone for a guest house at the Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar city on Saturday, the Lt Governor appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that elements aiding and abetting terrorists are uprooted from the society. "We need to strike hard at the terror ecosystem. Terrorists' aides should be identified, and they should be given the same punishment as terrorists for inflicting wounds on the soul of Jammu and Kashmir," he said. "Operation Sindoor avenged the murder of innocent civilians, and we avenged the terror attack by punishing the 'terror state of Pakistan'," the L-G said. "This has enforced our zero tolerance to terrorism. Brave soldiers of our armed forces have not only destroyed the terror factories deep inside Pakistan, but have also drawn a new red line. Now any terror attack will be considered an act of war and Pakistan will be given the harshest punishment for it," he asserted. L-G Sinha added that the kind of protests seen in Jammu and Kashmir against Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack were historic. "The Valley echoed with slogans against terrorism," he said. The Lt. Governor called for collective efforts to foster the spirit of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and promote unity across communities. "I appeal to those in positions of responsibility in Jammu and Kashmir to stop using terms like local and non-local. We are all Indians. Stop dividing Indians into locals and outsiders. You should work to unite people so that a united society can take Jammu and Kashmir to greater heights of growth," he advised. It must be mentioned that among the many previous governors and the Lt governors, Manoj Sinha is the first constitutional head of Jammu and Kashmir who speaks of a holistic approach to tackle terrorism. He always speaks of eradicating the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, and not just the number approach to dealing with terrorism by counting the number of terrorists killed. According to Manoj Sinha, the country's war is against the terror ecosystem, which includes the terrorists, their over ground workers (OGWs) and sympathisers. The three offshoots of terrorism are complementary/supplementary to each other, and one cannot be finished without weeding out the other two. In all review/security meetings he heads, Manoj Sinha always talks of dealing with the terror ecosystem as the main tree whose branches are terrorists, their OGWs and sympathisers.
