Gaza Documentary ‘A State of Passion' to Screen at Zawya Cinema

The documentary follows British-Palestinian surgeon Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah and his experiences working in Gaza's hospitals. May 16, 2025 Zawya Cinema is hosting a special screening of the documentary 'A State of Passion' on May 17th as part of The Between Women Filmmakers Caravan. Co-directed by Carol Mansour and Muna Khalidi, the film traces the journey of British-Palestinian surgeon Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah during 43 days inside Gaza's Al Shifa and Al Ahli hospitals—two of the most overwhelmed facilities amidst Israel's genocidal assault on Gaza. The screening starts at 7 PM sharp, with tickets available at a discounted price of EGP 600 through ElCinema's official website.

Asma Abulyazeid Teams Up with Wegz and Asmaa Galal for Next Film

Yara Sameh Egyptian singer-actress Asma Abulyazeid is set to star alongside Wegz and Asmaa Galal in the film "Watar Hassas". The project was initially set to be shot under the title of "El Cinema." The plot details are being kept under wraps, except for the pic is a romantic musical hailing from Adel Arabi. "Watar Hassas" marks the rapper's feature acting debut and will begin shooting soon, with the principal photography taking place in Egypt and abroad. Abulyazeid, born on July 10, 1990, has liked acting since young, but could not act in her school because there was no school theater, which became available in college, where she studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts. She participated in a large number of theatrical performances that were displayed at the Hanager Theater and competed for the Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi Award for Best Theater Show in 2016. In 2017, Abulyazeid drew attention through her performance as Toka in the TV series "Hadha Almasa" (This Evening). Her TV credits also include "Al Nas" (2024), "Touba" (2022), "Al Ekhteyar 2: Regal El Zel" (2021), "El Ansaa Farah" (2019), Hogan" (2019), "Zodiac" (2019), "Layali Eugenie" (2018), and "'Ana shahira ... 'ana alkhayin" (2017). Abulyazeid is also known for her roles in films such as "El Daawa Ammah" (2022),"Laylat Amar 14"(2022), "Mousa" (2021), "30 March" (2021), "El Kowayeseen" (2018), and "Hadha almasa'" (2017).
