El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce CEO Cindy Ramos-Davidson leaves job after 27 years
Cindy Ramos-Davidson, chief executive officer of the El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, has left the job she held almost 27 years after recently being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, chamber officials announced Friday. 'She has been a champion, a mentor, and a tireless advocate for economic development and opportunity in El Paso,' Frank Spencer III, chairman of the chamber's board of directors, said in a statement. She's been a visionary leader, he said. The Hispanic chamber, an advocate for El Paso's small businesses, has 1,048 members, second to the El Paso Chamber, which last year hired a new CEO. Mary Helen Aldeis, director of the Hispanic chamber's Women's Business Border Center, has been appointed interim CEO while the chamber board searches for a permanent director, according to a chamber news release. Ramos-Davidson has been part of the El Paso business community for about 40 years. She worked at the El Paso Chamber for many years before becoming the Hispanic chamber CEO. She recently ended a three-year term on the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas board of directors. And previously was on the Fed bank's El Paso branch board for several years. She's received many awards during her career, including being named the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce's executive of the year for three consecutive years from 2008 to 2010, according to a biography on the U.S. Minority Development Agency website. The national Hispanic chamber group also named the El Paso Hispanic chamber the top, large Hispanic chamber of the year in the United States for the same three years, according to the biography. Ramos-Davidson, in a statement, said, 'I would like to thank the many businesses that I have had the honor of connecting with over the years locally, statewide and nationally. I wish you all the very best." This article originally appeared on El Paso Times: El Paso Hispanic Chamber of Commerce CEO leaves after 27 years
