Early voting for May 3 election continues through weekend

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Early voting for the May 3 election will continue through this weekend and end on Tuesday, April 29. There are 25 early voting locations across El Paso County. Election Day is Saturday, May 3. 'Weekend Early Voting is a convenient opportunity for voters to cast their ballot ahead of Election Day,' the El Paso County Elections Department said. Early voting begins Tuesday for May 3 election

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Early voting begins Tuesday, April 22 for the May 3 election for a handful of school districts and smaller jurisdictions around El Paso County. Early voting lasts through Tuesday, April 29 and will include Saturday and Sunday, the El Paso County Elections Department said. This is not a countywide election. Jurisdictions that will have elections are: Haciendas Del Norte Water Improvement District; El Paso Independent School District; Socorro Independent School District; San Elizario Independent School District; El Paso Community College; Town of Anthony, Village of Vinton; Town of Horizon City; and City of San Elizario. 'With eight days of early voting, including Saturday and Sunday, voters can choose a time that best fits their schedule and often avoid long lines that are more common on Election Day,' the Elections Department said. EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso County Elections Department is reminding residents that the last day to register to vote is Thursday, April 3 for the May 2025 Uniform Election. Ballots for this election include Haciendas Del Norte Water Improvement District, El Paso Independent School District, Socorro Independent School District, San Elizario Independent School District, El Paso Community College, Town of Anthony, Village of Vinton, Town of Horizon City and City of San Elizario, the Elections Department said. The Elections Department's office is open from 8 a.m. through 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located at 500 E. San Antonio Ave., Suite 314, El Paso, Texas, 79901. On Thursday, April 3, the office will close at 5 p.m. The Elections Department has provided a list of important voter registration information which is the following: To register in Texas, an applicant must: Be a resident of the county in which they are registering. Be a citizen of the United States. Be 18 years of age by Election Day. Not be a convicted felon, or if convicted, have completed all punishment (including incarceration, parole, probation, or supervision) or received a pardon. Not be declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote. Those who are interested can download a voter registration application from the Elections Department's website under Voter Registration. Applications are also available at any United States Post Office, the Department of Public Safety, El Paso Public Libraries, Texas Health and Human Services Commission offices, and any local high school, the Elections Department said. The Elections Department says it will continue to accept walk-ins for those who would like to register it update their voter registration information. Once processed, a voter registration certificate will be mailed within 30 days. If already registered, voters can use the Elections Department's new website feature, My Voter Dashboard, to check their voter registration status. Voters will need to enter their first name, last name, and date of birth, or their Voter Unique Identifier, VUID Number, which is located on the Voter Registration Certificate. El Paso County Elections Department honored for website — once again

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — For the sixth straight year, the El Paso County Elections Department is being honored for its website by the League of Women Voters of Texas. Once again, the County Elections Department has received an 'Outstanding' rating in its 2024 website review done by the League of Women Voters, which is a nonpartisan group that advocates for voter participation and voter information. Out of all 254 Texas counties, only 61 counties received this ranking, according to the El Paso County Elections Department. 'The League evaluates election website based on quality, accuracy, and accessibility of information available to voters. This recognition underscores the department's dedication to providing transparent, accurate, and accessible election information to El Paso County voters,' read a news release. 'We are excited that our continued efforts have contributed to this year's recognition and that we've maintained 'Outstanding' ranking year after year. The added features on our revamped website reflect our commitment to making the election process easier and more accessible to voters,' said Lisa Wise, El Paso County elections administrator. The department announced the launch of its newly revamped elections website in August 2024. The updated website offers El Paso voters a 'more user-friendly experience, with improved functionality and a range of interactive tools,' the County Elections Department said. The County Elections Department said its revamped website includes the following tools with their descriptions of each: • My Voter Dashboard: A personalized tool where users can find their voter registration status, view their voting history, see a personalized sample ballot, and check eligibility for upcoming elections. Improved Accessibility for our Disabled Community: The new accessibility widget allows users to adjust font size, contrast colors, and other features to meet individual needs. • Interactive Voting Place Locator: A new search tool helps voters find the nearest Early Voting Location and/or Election Day Vote Center by providing their zip code. Results will be narrowed within the interactive Google Maps. The department said it partnered with El Paso-based company Hello Amigo nine years ago to ensure that the website remains current, secure, and easy to navigate, providing accurate information and resources for all voters.
