CSPD: Stolen Corolla found, suspect arrested
(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that on Friday, June 6, the Motor Vehicle Theft unit found a blue 2013 Toyota Corolla that had been reported stolen from North Nevada Avenue near East Fillmore Street, leading to the arrest of a suspect.
According to CSPD, a marked police unit had encountered the vehicle in the area of Centennial Boulevard and Fillmore Street two nights before, on Wednesday, June 4, and had attempted to stop it, but the vehicle drove off.
CSPD reported that on Friday, the Motor Vehicle Theft Detectives conducted surveillance on the stolen Corolla, leading them to the area of Mount View Lane and Cragmore Road, near I-25 and Austin Bluffs Boulevard, where the suspect, 37-year-old Jason Garling, got out of the car and was stopped by detectives.
According to CSPD, Garling was taken into custody and charged with motor vehicle theft, possession of an illegal weapon, and felony eluding. He was taken to the El Paso Criminal Justice Center.
