'Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition' On Nintendo Switch 2 Adds Two Classes & Bonus Content
The Lands Between will welcome new faces to the Nintendo Switch 2 when the console drops, with Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition introducing new classes, armour sets, and other bonus content. Per Famitsu, a special event held in Tokyo unveiled a first look at the upcoming selectable classes: Knight of Ides and Heavy Armoured Knight (as translated by RPG Site). Other details, including gameplay mechanics, were not shared, but developer FromSoftware confirmed the arrival of more new weapons and skills in the future. The two new classes will also reportedly unlock two of the four new armours in the Tarnished Edition , with the other two available to obtain in-game. Meanwhile, the ever-reliable Torrent is set for a makeover. Three new appearances are available for the spirit horse as part of the Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition , which includes the Shadow of the Erdtree content, and the Tarnished Pack DLC for other platforms. A release date has yet to be set for both the action-RPG on the Switch 2 and the Tarnished Pack DLC. The base title debuted in 2022 and has sold over 30 million copies to date, surpassing the entire Dark Souls series to become the studio's best-selling entry. While there are no plans for a direct sequel, its forthcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign , will keep the fun (and a little bit of frustration) going with an additional co-op element when it releases on 30 May. Following that, genre fans can look forward to The Duskbloods , a surprise release for the Nintendo Switch 2. Not much else is known about the gothic-flavoured game, but it's coming sometime in 2026 as a console exclusive. ‘The Duskbloods' Is The Next Game From ‘Elden Ring' Developer FromSoftware And It's Exclusive To Nintendo Switch 2
The Duskbloods Credit: FromSoftware Nintendo gamers have largely missed out on FromSoftware's games. Now, not one but two of the Dark Souls developer's titles will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2. During the new console's Nintendo Direct Wednesday, we learned that Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition is headed to Nintendo Switch 2, which releases on June 5th of this year. More exciting is the big reveal of The Duskbloods, a new Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive that looks, for all intents and purposes, like the spiritual successor to Bloodborne. The game has vampires, lots of moon references, and a style that hovers somewhere between Dark Souls and the popular (and sequelless) PlayStation exclusive. Only this time there appear to be dinosaurs - and jetpacks. Here's the trailer: As you can see, the Nintendo Switch 2 is clearly a step up from its predecessor but not up to par with the competition in the graphics department. The graphics here are a far cry from Elden Ring, looking more like games FromSoftware was putting out last generation. I'm not particularly concerned about that. The Japanese studio's strong point isn't graphics, however gorgeous Elden Ring was, but rather gameplay. And this looks to have that signature Souls flavor both in terms of combat and cryptic storytelling. The Duskbloods Credit: FromSoftware It's described as a 'multiplayer game' in the trailer's description. Whether that means it's more like Elden Ring: Nightreign, or just multiplayer in the same way all of From's games are (summoning, invasions etc.) remains to be seen. The game doesn't have a set release date yet, but it's coming out sometime in 2026. If this is more of a multiplayer-focused game than most of From's titles, that is a bit of a disappointment. Hopefully we get a proper Bloodborne 2 down the road. And a PC version. Here's the trailer for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, which is pretty obviously a slightly downgraded (or, um, tarnished) version of the multiplatform title: A bunch of other games are headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 including Mario Kart World at launch, the first new game in that series since 2014.
