Locomotive won first prize in beauty contest

Locomotive No. 37364 (WAP-7) from the Electric Loco Shed in Lallaguda, South Central Railway, won first prize in the 'Beauty Contest for Electric Locos,' which was held at the Banaras Locomotive Works in Varanasi. The prize was jointly shared by Royapuram Electric Loco Shed, Southern Railway . A total of 13 locomotives from various zonal railways took part in the competition. The locomotives were judged on their unique features and modifications, their overall aesthetic appeal, and their maintenance standards. The major highlight of Loco No. 37364's upgraded cab was the modified AC duct. Thermal insulation was provided around the cab body and machine room, bringing temperatures down by 20°C at the crew seat, 33°C at the roof, 13°C at the floor and 22°C at the driver's desk under peak operating conditions. Furthermore, a 360° loco view system comprising 14 cameras per locomotive was installed to enable the crew to monitor the condition of the pantograph, the machine room, the cabin and the track via monitors in the cab.

Visakhapatnam Electric Loco Shed introduces crew-friendly enhancements in WAP7 locomotive

Electric Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam, (ELS Viskahapatnam), has introduced a series of innovative, crew-friendly modifications in WAP7 locomotive 37419, setting a new benchmark in operational excellence and crew comfort under the guidance of Senior Divisional Electrical Engineer (ELS) B. Shanmukha Rao. These enhancements have been carried out as part of ELS/Visakhapatnam's entry into the prestigious All India Electric Loco Cab Competition, to be held at Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW). A retrofitted Crew Desk, enhanced Cab AC Ducting, Ventilated & Improved Seats, Superior seating for enhanced driving comfort, Motor-Operated Side Window Shutters, Caution Order Display, Rear View Camera, Anti-Slip Flooring with Radium Stickers, Driver Tool Box, Adjustable Cab Spot Lights are some of the key feature improvements made to the Loco Engine. The upgraded locomotive was flagged off by Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Waltair, at Electric Loco Shed, Visakhapatnam. Recognising the dedication and innovation demonstrated by the ELS team, the DRM has announced a cash award of ₹5,000. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Lalit Bohra said: 'These modifications reflect our commitment to crew welfare and operational excellence. I congratulate the team for their innovative approach and wish them success at the All India Electric Loco Cab Competition.'
