Buckley school unites community with VE Day artwork
Elfed High School, in Buckley, organised a community art project to commemorate VE Day and the 80th liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
The Elfed Peace Dove Project is a collaborative piece of artwork which invites the local community to reflect on the values of peace.

The project, which has been inspired by the Peace Doves exhibition at Chester Cathedral (running until June 17), has been created by local school children and other members of the Buckley community, who all decorated their own paper dove, adding their messages of peace and personal reflection.
As well as Elfed High students, Westwood Primary, Southdown Primary, Mountain Lane Primary pupils, and Marleyfield care home residents, created doves as part of the project, which is now on display in Buckley Library.
Kate Smallwood, teacher of art at Elfed High, said: "This project has been a great opportunity to come together as a community to create this art installation and reflect on such an important part of our history."
