Johnstown man charged in armed robbery of Richland Township business
RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WTAJ) — A Johnstown man is facing multiple charges after allegedly robbing a skills game business at knifepoint, apologizing to the clerk before stealing more than $12,000. According to our media partners The Tribune-Democrat, Richland Township police said Eli Jason Zasadni, 48, entered 3C Amusements on Scalp Avenue around 8:45 p.m. on Feb. 1, wearing black clothing and a mask. According to a criminal complaint, he pulled out a folding knife, told the clerk, 'I am sorry to do this,' and demanded money. The clerk complied, placing the cash in two zippered money bags, police said. Zasadni allegedly fled on foot. Authorities used surveillance footage to identify him after someone recognized a photo posted on Facebook and alerted police. State police later found Zasadni at a Somerset hotel, where he initially denied involvement but later admitted to the crime, according to the affidavit. Zasadni was arraigned Saturday by District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi and sent to Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10% of his $100,000 bond. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Police: Man tells clerk 'sorry' before pulling knife, robbing Richland business
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – A Johnstown-area man walked into a skills game business, pulled out a knife and told the clerk, "I am sorry to do this," before robbing the place of $12,936, police allege. Richland Township police charged Eli Jason Zasadni, 48, of the 200 block of Leventry Road, with robbery, receiving stolen property, theft, possessing instruments of crime and simple assault. Zasadni allegedly walked into 3C Amusements at 1234 Scalp Ave., Richland Township, at 8:45 p.m. Feb. 1, pulled out a knife and demanded money, according to a complaint affidavit. Zasadni was wearing black clothing and a black mask when he allegedly approached the clerk, apologized and pulled out a folding knife, according to police. He allegedly told the clerk she would not be hurt if she cooperated, the affidavit said. The clerk bagged the money and Zasadni allegedly fled on foot with a black zippered money bag and a frosted zippered money bag with "Extra Extra" written on the side, police said. Police obtained video footage. Someone allegedly recognized the photo posted on Facebook and called the police. State police allegedly found Zasadni at a hotel in Somerset. Zasadni allegedly denied involvement, but later admitted to being the robber, the affidavit said. Zasadni was arraigned Saturday by on-call District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi, of Vinco, and sent to Cambria County Prison in Ebensburg after failing to post 10% of $100,000 bond.
