Heidi Klum Boldly Broke One of Cannes Film Festival's New Dress Code Rules With Her Red Carpet Look
Heidi Klum is not playing by the rules at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival!
The 51-year-old model stepped out on the red carpet for the opening ceremony of the French film festival, and to a screening of Leave One Day, wearing a dramatic look that might just breach newly-released dress code rules.

Klum, who is never one to tame down her looks for anyone, wore a stunning Elie Saab Haute Couture gown. The strapless pink dress emulated a blooming flower with tiered, petal-like details that flowed out into a train that took over the red carpet. She styled the look with strappy heels and wore her blonde hair in loose waves that fell behind her shoulders.
Of course, the words 'dramatic' and 'train' might be considered a no-go area after the notoriously strict organization tightened up its guidelines even more than usual.
Ahead of the festival, the official FAQ website for the event shared updated dress code requirements that stated, 'voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater are not permitted.'
Less applicable to Klum was another headline-making rule that stated, 'nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival,' due to 'decency reasons.'
Halle Berry, who is serving on this year's competition jury, admitted that she had to make a last minute outfit change because of the new rules. 'I had an amazing dress by Gupta that I cannot wear tonight because it's too big of a train,' Berry said during a Cannes press conference on May 13, per Variety, regarding her look for tonight's opening night gala. 'I'm not going to break the rules. The nudity part is also probably a good rule.'
However, Klum's Cannes wardrobe is always pushing boundaries, so we're guessing the model didn't want to opt for a simpler look. In 2023, Klum took over the red carpet in a yellow, cutout gown with billowing sleeves that she tossed into the air to add drama to her photos.
