Iowa basketball hosting Florida International transfer portal guard
Iowa basketball has another transfer portal visitor on campus.
Per Eliot Cough of Hawkeye Beacon, the Hawkeyes welcomed Florida International transfer guard Ashton Williamson.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound guard averaged 7.3 points, 2.7 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game in 33 games with 16 starts. Williamson shot 39.4% from the field, 32.9% from 3-point range and 67.6% from the free-throw line.
A native of Gary, Indiana, Williamson scored in double figures 10 times last season, including a season-high 14 points against Middle Tennessee on March 8.
Williamson was a three-star signee in FIU's 2024 class and ranked as the No. 52 combo guard and as the No. 8 player from Indiana.
