Starmer pushing forward with welfare cuts despite MP rebellion
Sir Keir Starmer has insisted a rebellion by more than 120 Labour MPs over the Government's planned welfare cuts is not a confidence vote in his leadership, saying he would press ahead.
The backbenchers have signed an amendment which would halt progress of the Welfare Bill which includes cuts to disability and sickness-related benefits. It's part of the Government's plan to save £5 billion a year by the end of the decade.
