The organization said the cuts come as a result of the Trump administration not reimbursing the non-profit after settling 376 refugees in Syracuse from October 2024 to early January of this year.
Catholic Charities say the cuts impact 11 employees in the Syracuse area, and 40 others put on furlough.
In a statement on the its LinkedIn, the organization said in part, 'While these challenges are real, we want our community to know that we are not backing down…We must stand together to ensure that those fleeing war, violence, and persecution find safety, dignity, and a future.'
