BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A 15-year-old was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat after allegedly threatening violence toward the Ellicottville Central School District over social media, police announced Wednesday.
Police responded to the school on April 23 with increased patrols. Digital evidence obtained through an investigation that was reportedly related to the suspect was used to arrest the 15-year-old, police said.
The 15-year-old will be arraigned in Cattaraugus County Youth Part Court at a later date. Police did not specify which school within the district received the threat.
'This threat had a significant impact on the students, parents, and staff,' the Ellicottville Police Department said in a Facebook post. 'The safety and security of these individuals is of the utmost importance. We take all of these cases seriously and will continue to work diligently to hold those responsible for threats accountable.'
