Then we see nicer weather next week. More details below: TONIGHT: Showers will return in a few hours for the evening and into the overnight. Skies will be mostly cloudy with lows in the lower to mid fifties along with calm winds. SATURDAY: We start off the weekend on Saturday with chances for some showers and storms. Otherwise, skies will remain mostly cloudy with highs only near sixty. We will be windy with winds from the northwest at 5 to 15 mph and gusts up to 20 to 25 mph. SUNDAY: We round out the weekend on Sunday with more chances for scattered showers, otherwise skies will be partly cloudy. We will be a bit warmer with highs in the lower to mid sixties. NEXT WEEK: Then we dry out and warm up. Skies will be mostly sunny for Monday through Wednesday. Highs will be in the lower to mid seventies on Monday, the lower to mid eighties on Tuesday, and in the upper eighties on Wednesday. Then we see showers return for Thursday and Friday. WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – AAA of Western and Central New York released its first round of gas prices after Memorial Day for the City of Watertown. According to the organization, the average price for a gallon of gas in Watertown ticked up two cents to $3.18 from last week. The average price is taken from the average prices from different gas stations in and around the Watertown area. Memorial Day travel expected to break 20-year record The increase is the largest of any cities named in the Western and Central New York region. Here's a breakdown of the average gas prices from the area: Batavia – $3.15 (up 1 cent from last Monday) Buffalo – $3.08 (up 1 cent from last Monday) Elmira – $2.99 (down 1 cent from last Monday) Ithaca – $3.04 (no change from last Monday) Rochester – $3.11 (no change from last Monday) Rome – $3.22 (down 2 cents from last Monday) Syracuse – $3.06 (no change from last Monday) Watertown – $3.18 (up 2 cents from last Monday) The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $3.17, down one cent from Monday, May 19. One year ago, the price was $3.59. The state average is $3.13, no change from last Monday. A year ago, the NYS average was $3.67. For drivers who use diesel fuel, the national average price for diesel is $3.52, down one cent from last Monday. The NYS average is $3.87, also down one cent from last Monday. When it comes to EV charging, the national and state averages for L2 commercial electricity remain steady. Today's national average per kilowatt hour of electricity at a public EV charging station stands at 36 cents. The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is resting at $3.17 despite a busy holiday weekend where AAA estimates over 39 million motorists drove 50 miles or more from home. The national average has fluctuated very little so far in 2025 compared to previous years. Gas prices haven't been this low over Memorial Day weekend since 2021 when the national average was $3.04. Supply and demand are playing a role in this year's lower pump prices as crude oil supply is currently surpassing demand. According to the latest data from the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline demand decreased from 8.79 million b/d last week to 8.64. Total domestic gasoline supply increased from 224.7 million barrels to 225.5. Gasoline production increased last week, averaging 9.6 million barrels per day. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. Teen charged with two counts of sexual assault for Woolwich incident

A 14-year-old boy is facing two counts of sexual assault after an incident in Woolwich Township. On May 15, at around 5 p.m., officers received a report of a sexual assault. They were told a woman was using a walking trail at the Woolwich Reservoir, off of Reid Woods Drive and northwest of Elmira, when she was approached by a teen and assaulted. The Waterloo Regional Police Service said the teen was arrested on Monday.

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — Graduates walked in Elmira College's 167th Commencement Ceremony with, around 162 students fulfilling their academic chapters, on Sunday, May 18. Students walked across Park Place in Elmira through an audience of between 400 and 500 people, exchanging waves with people as they approached the front. Among the students were 142 undergraduates and 20 others at the graduate level. A majority of them will be receiving Bachelor's degrees in Science. Some of the majors the students studied in consisted of nursing, biology, psychology, business administration, and others. Nursing major Ashton Craver said he plans to work as a medical surgical nurse with cancer patients at United Health Services (UHS) in Binghamton. Elmira College holds 2024 graduation ceremony 'Follow your heart and use your support systems,' Craver said. 'Friends, family, faculty, they're the reason I got through college. It wasn't a solo effort one bit, so you can rely on others on top of your own drive, and that'll get you through things.' Jazmine Elliott, who earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration and a Minor in Fashion Business Generalist, will be working at Macy's Corporate in New York City in merchandising. 'Try as many things as you can, because that's how you meet the best people, that's how you do the best experiences, and just be willing to pull yourself out there,' Elliott said. Female assaulted by male youth while walking on trail near Elmira: police

The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) is investigating a report of a sexual assault in Woolwich Township. On Thursday at around 5 p.m., police received a report of a sexual assault on the walking trail at the Woolwich Reservoir off of Reid Woods Drive, just northwest of Elmira. 'The adult female victim was walking on the trail when she was approached and assaulted by a male youth,' police said in a media release. No injuries were reported. The suspect is described as a White male, approximately 5′4″, with brown, short hair, wearing a long-sleeved blue, green and white plaid shirt, jeans and clog-style shoes. He was riding a dark-coloured bicycle at the time of the incident, police say. The investigation is ongoing by WRPS' Special Victims Unit.
