Austin police: Teen arrested in killing of Infowars writer
Austin police have announced an arrest connected to the killing of an southside man who wrote for Infowars.
Eloy Adrian Camarillo, 17, was arrested April 30, according to a Thursday news release from the Austin Police Department,in relation to the death of Jamie White, is being charged with capital murder, police say.
Camarillo is the first person arrested in the March 9 death of White, 36. White was allegedly trying to stop his car from being stolen at the Chandelier Apartments in the at 2300 block of Douglas Street, when was shot, according to previous information from police.
Police said multiple pieces of evidence, including surveillance camera footage, helped investigators narrow onto Camarillo. "Thank you to the community members who submitted tips through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program. ... Your willingness to come forward with information played a critical role in ensuring justice and maintaining the safety of our neighborhoods," the Facebook post announcing the arrest reads.
Police Detective Jason Jones, who was leading the investigation, said in March a news conference that either one or multiple individuals were trying to steal White's Kia from the parking lot of his apartment complex when the writer "interrupted" the burglars.
White was then shot and left in the parking lot, where authorities found him. He was pronounced deceased at 12:19 a.m. Monday at a local hospital.
Kia vehicles have drawn national attention for the past several years because of a spike in theft increases due to poor security measures. Police also cited Kia's believed ease of accessibility in a factor, though the company denied those charges to the Statesman.
It is unclear if there are any other suspects in the case.

Case: 25-0681789 Date: Sunday, March 9, 2025 Time: 11:56 p.m. Location: 2336 Douglas Street (Chandelier Apartments) Victim (Deceased): Jamie White, White male, 07/13/1988On Sunday, March 9, 2025, at approximately 11:56 p.m., the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to the call of a shooting at the Chandelier Apartments located at 2336 Douglas Street. When officers arrived on the scene, they located one victim, later identified as Jamie White, lying on the ground in the parking lot with apparent trauma to his body. White was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 12:19 a.m. on March 10, Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists responded to process the scene and interview witnesses. The initial investigation shows that White was shot and killed in the parking lot of the apartment complex in which he lived. The suspects then fled the scene. Detectives believe the suspects were possibly burglarizing White's vehicle, when he interrupted are encouraging anyone in the area who may have had their vehicle burglarized that night, to come forward so APD can further investigate.
