ISU women punch ticket to WNIT Sweet 16 behind 28 from Dowell in win over WIU
NORMAL, Illinois (WMBD) – Illinois State women's basketball is still hooping following a 90-80 WNIT second round win over Western Illinois Sunday afternoon at CEFCU arena. The offensive was red hot for the Redbirds. All five starters ended in double figures, led by Shannon Dowell's 28 on an incredible 10-13 shooting performance. Elyce Knudsen added 23, Normal Community grad Maya Wong chipped in with 15 and then Addison Martin along with Neveah Thomas contributed 12. ISU shot 54% from the field and 52% from beyond the arc, with five of the team's 11 triples coming from Knudsen. The Redbirds will take on either Central Arkansas or Abilene Christian.
