Chelsea eye pre-agreement deal for Emegha with partner club Strasbourg
Chelsea are watching Emanuel Emegha's development at Strasbourg and have held talks with their partner club over a pre-agreement for the striker to move to England in 2026. Strasbourg became part of BlueCo's multiclub operation two years ago and have impressed in Ligue 1 this season, qualifying for the Uefa Conference League after finishing seventh. A host of young talents have developed on Liam Rosenior's watch, including Emegha, who played a key role in the side's rise by scoring 14 goals in 27 league games this season. Chelsea have been watching the 22-year-old's progress and want to keep him under their umbrella. It is likely that any other club hoping to sign the Dutchman this summer will be given short shrift. The idea is for Emegha to maintain his progress under Rosenior next season and leave a pathway open for him to move to the next level by joining Chelsea before the 2026-27 campaign. Such an agreement would demonstrate to other young players that there is value in playing for Strasbourg. Andrey Santos, the highly promising Brazilian midfielder, is expected to be part of Chelsea's squad after a successful year on loan at Strasbourg. An agreement for Emegha at this stage is expected to be independent of Chelsea's attempts to add at least one new forward to their squad for next season. There is growing noise that they are favourites to sign Ipswich's Liam Delap, who also has interest from Everton, Newcastle and Manchester United, and there is interest in Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko. Frankfurt want £84m for Ekitike.

Emegha admired by Chelsea but to stay at Strasbourg
Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha's form has been noticed across at BlueCo partner club Chelsea, amid reports he could join the club in 2026. The 22-year-old, who scored 14 goals in 27 league matches, as the Ligue 1 club qualified for Europe for the first time since 2020, is under contract until 2028 and is near certain to stay at Strasbourg next season. However, aside from an agreement to remain in Alsace for a further season to enjoy their Conference League campaign, there are further discussions about his future. One option being discussed is Emegha could renew his contract at Strasbourg and then join Chelsea in 2026. However, no promises have been made or pre-agreements been reached to formalise the idea with interest coming in from major clubs in Europe. The Netherlands Under-21 international is regarded as a leader at Strasbourg and his short injury lay-offs arguably cost Strasbourg qualification to the Champions League or Europa League - as the club lost six of their seven matches without him available. Emegha's situation is, however, an example of the joined up thinking across Chelsea and Strasbourg, who finished seventh this season to qualify for the Conference League under English manager Liam Rosenior. Rosenior, like Chelsea manager Maresca, plays an expansive, progressive, possession-based style of football, which is being implemented across both clubs from the women's teams through the academies. It is a structure designed to allow players to move between clubs in either direction to their mutual benefit - with goalkeeper Djorde Petrovic and Andrey Santos excelling on loan at Strasbourg but now expected to return to Chelsea for the Club World Cup. Chelsea, meanwhile, are still exploring striker options away from Emegha and have around eight or nine targets on their agenda. Ipswich striker Liam Delap continues to be a major target and is available for his £30m relegation release clause but there are alternatives like Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and a host of others on the club's radar.

Chelsea to offer Emanuel Emegha 6-year contract
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Chelsea FC are set to offer Emanuel Emegha (22) a six-year contract ahead of a move away from RC Strasbourg Alsace. Emegha has long been linked with a transfer between the two sister clubs, with the Dutch forward flourishing under the tutelage of head coach Liam Rosenior. Last season, Emegha scored nine in 31 games across all competitions; this jumped up to 14 goals in 29 games this season. Advertisement Fabrizio Romano explained earlier today that while a transfer is expected, it is very unlikely that Emegha will play his football in England next season. Emegha will likely be loaned back to Strasbourg to help the club compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Despite finishing outside of the European places when Ligue 1 finished, Strasbourg were given a lifeline when Paris Saint-Germain defeated Stade de Reims in the Coupe de France final. As the next best placed team, Strasbourg were given the Coupe de France European spot. GFFN | Nick Hartland
