Richmond weekend guide: Friday Cheers, Arts in the Park, Kentucky Derby
Wow. Friday Cheers, Arts in the Park, the Kentucky Derby and Stars Wars Day all in one weekend? We're too lucky. Thursday, May 1 🎶 DJ Zack Fox, who you may have seen on "Abbott Elementary," is performing at The National. 7:30pm. Resale tickets are going for about $100. Friday, May 2 🎉 It's Friday Cheers season. The first concert of 2025 is Chaparelle with Jack Wharff & the Tobacco Flats. 6-9:30pm. $10 in advance. 🫡 If you grew up doing Soulja Boy's "Crank Dat" dance, this one's for you. He's performing at Ember Music Hall. 7pm. Tickets start at $30. Saturday, May 3 😭 This is not a drill. RACC, Richmond's animal shelter, wants you to help bottle feed kittens. 10:30am-11:30am. 🎨 Arts in the Park is back at Byrd Park from Saturday (11am-6pm) to Sunday (11am-5pm). Free unless you buy something. 🇻🇪 So is the ¿Qué Pasa? Festival on Brown's Island. Noon-8pm. Free but you should definitely buy a lot of food. 🏓 Richmond's first-ever pickleball festival will take over Regency Mall with DJs, drinks and more. Noon-4pm. The Monument 10k and other things to do in Richmond this weekend
It's the weekend of the Monument Avenue 10K here in RVA — and there's so much to do. Check it out: Thursday, April 10 👯♀️ The RVA Burlesque Festival will feature more than 40 performers from across the country at Strangeways Brewing (Thursday), Ember Music Hall (Friday) and The Byrd Theatre (Saturday). Times vary. Tickets start at $20. 🏀 The National Wheelchair Basketball Association Adult Tournament is back in town for the second year. This is the March Madness for wheelchair bball and it's playing out daily through Sunday at the Henrico Sports & Events Center. Times vary. Tickets start at $15. Friday, April 11 🎙️ The Richmond Poetry Fest kicks-off tonight with the The Basement's Wild at Heart Series and runs through Saturday with tons of poetry readings and more the Visual Arts Center. Times vary. Free. Saturday, April 12 🏃🏻♀️Runners, walkers, cheerleaders and spectators will take over the Fan and Museum District for the 26th Monument Avenue 10k. The event is rain or shine and starts at 8:30am. Free to attend, $45 to run/walk or costume. 🥖 Petit Four, Jardin's Saturday pop-up bakery, will once again be selling drool-worthy baked goods from 9am to sell-out at the Fan District wine bar. 🎧 It's Record Store Day, a a global event filled with vinyl and CD releases, and at least five local shops are participating. All day. Free. 🌎 Chesterfield is celebrating Earth Day at the Chesterfield County Fairgrounds with food trucks, touch a truck, live entertainment and more. Noon-4pm. Free. 👅 Get weird at the Richmond Fringe festival, a performing arts festival at various locations across town. Runs through Monday.
