Woodbury County Emergency Management seeking volunteers
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Officials with Woodbury County Emergency Management are looking for volunteers to help with two different programs.
According to a press release from the department sent out Thursday morning, the Emergency Management Support Team is made up of volunteers who specialize in areas like emergency operations center management, radio communications, search and rescue, or shelter support. Volunteers for this team train regularly with emergency management staff. They respond during emergencies either to the emergency operations center or out in the field to support officials and first responders.

Meanwhile, the Citizen's Preparedness Taskforce gives residents with teaching skills the chance to educate other civilians about how to prepare for emergencies before they take place. Officials say this group helps develop the disaster survival trainings the department offers in local communities several times a year.
Siouxlanders interested in volunteering for either team are encouraged to visit the department's website to learn more and/or apply.
