(Image: Screenshots) A physical altercation broke out during a four-day match between Bangladesh and South Africa Emerging Teams in Mirpur, when South African off-spinner Tshepo Ntuli and Bangladeshi batter Ripon Mondol engaged in a scuffle on the second day of play. The incident occurred after Mondol hit Ntuli for a six, leading to an exchange of glares that escalated into physical contact, with Ntuli pulling Mondol's helmet after both players exchanged shoves. The situation required intervention from umpire Kamruzzaman to separate the two players. Several South African players appeared to move towards the batter during the confrontation, while none attempted to restrain Ntuli. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "This is extreme, this is unacceptable. Normally we see verbal altercations in a cricket field but we don't often see a scuffle. Ntuli struck Ripon's helmet at one point," said commentator Nabil Kaiser while describing the incident during the match. The heated exchange continued after the initial confrontation when Ntuli aggressively threw the ball towards Mondol after the latter blocked a delivery. The tension remained evident throughout their on-field interactions. Ntuli eventually dismissed Mondol for 43 runs, ending a significant 67-run partnership for the ninth wicket with Mehedi Hasan, who remained unbeaten on 44. The partnership had helped Bangladesh's emerging team surpass 350 runs in their innings. Bangladesh's Emerging Team completed their innings with a total of 371 runs. By the end of the day's play, South Africa's Emerging Team had reached 152 for 6 wickets. The match officials did not take immediate action regarding the incident. The process requires the on-field umpires to submit an official report first. The match referee will then submit reports to both the Bangladesh Cricket Board and Cricket South Africa for further consideration and potential disciplinary action. This incident is not isolated in the ongoing tour. Earlier, during the one-day leg of the tour in Rajshahi, players Andile Simelane and Jishan Alam received suspensions following incidents in the second game, causing them to miss the third and final match. Watch: Ugly Scenes As Bangladesh, South Africa Players Get Into Physical Altercation

An ugly incident took place on the cricket field in an Emerging Teams four-day match between Bangladesh and South Africa in Dhaka. With Bangladesh batting and South Africa bowling, players of both teams got involved in a heated altercation, leading to a brawl in the middle of the pitch. The incident was triggered after an exchange between 22-year-old Bangladesh batter Ripon Mondol and 29-year-old Proteas pacer Tshepo Ntuli. The fight was soon joined by other players of the team. No immediate action has been taken yet, but the umpires are set to file an official report before sanctions are imposed. As per a report by ESPNcricinfo, Ripon had initially smashed a straight six off Ntuli's bowling, leading to an exchange of glares between the bowler and the batter. However, after that, as Ripon moved towards his batting partner, Ntuli charged towards the Bangladesh batter. Things got out of control between Tshepo Ntuli and Ripon Mondol during the SA Emerging vs Bangladesh Emerging match today and the umpires were forced to intervene — Werner (@Werries_) May 28, 2025 The two players were at first involved in a shove, which quickly turned into a bigger brawl. Ntuli pulled Ripon's helmet on multiple occasions, despite the attempted interference of umpire Kamruzzaman. Some of the on-looking South African players also appeared to enter the fight. It is unclear whether there had been any verbal exchange between the two prior which may have preceded the heated altercation. Three balls after the incident, Ntuli threw the ball back at Ripon after bowling it, which the Bangladesh batter fended off. "This is extreme, this is unacceptable. Normally we see verbal altercations in a cricket field but we don't often see a fight. Ntuli struck Ripon's helmet at one point," Nabil Kaiser, one of the on-air commentators, said, as quoted by ESPNcricinfo. As per the report, the match referee will submit reports of the incident to both the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Cricket South Africa (CSA), before official action is taken.

India Withdraws From Asia Cup 2025, BCCI Cites Pakistan-Led ACC As Reason: Report

In what could be a monumental blow to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly informed the ACC of its decision to withdraw from the Asia Cup 2025. The move, driven by deepening political tensions between India and Pakistan, casts a long shadow over the tournament's future. According to The Indian Express, the BCCI has also opted out of the Women's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2025, set to be played in Sri Lanka next month. The ACC, currently chaired by Pakistan's Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, is at the heart of the controversy — with Indian authorities citing the conflict of interest and heightened national sentiment as key reasons behind the exit. Operation Sindoor and the Fallout: Why India Pulled the Plug The withdrawal follows closely on the heels of Operation Sindoor, a recent military operation conducted by India in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) and other terror hubs in response to a deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives. With diplomatic relations at a nadir, the BCCI's stance reflects a broader government position to distance itself from any platform led by Pakistani officials — even in the realm of sports. A senior BCCI source was quoted saying: 'The Indian team can't play in a tournament that is organised by the ACC whose chief is a Pakistan minister. That's the sentiment of the nation. We've verbally communicated our withdrawal and our future participation in ACC events is also under review.' Impact on Asia Cup 2025: Could the Tournament Be Cancelled? India's decision is poised to destabilize the very foundation of the Asia Cup 2025, which was scheduled for September in the T20 format to serve as a build-up to the T20 World Cup 2026. India, the reigning champions, had defeated Sri Lanka in the 2023 edition's final and were expected to headline the event again. With the majority of Asia Cup sponsors hailing from India, and India being the region's biggest viewership magnet, the BCCI's absence threatens not only the competitiveness of the tournament but also its commercial viability. A cancellation or further delay now appears highly likely unless a compromise model — such as the hybrid format used in 2023 — is revisited. The Domino Effect: What This Means for PCB and ACC For the Pakistan Cricket Board, the ramifications are significant. The BCCI's firm stance could lead to a larger boycott of events under the ACC umbrella unless leadership changes are made. Notably, the last time the Asia Cup was hosted in Pakistan, India's refusal to tour resulted in a hybrid model where all Indian matches, including the final, were played in Sri Lanka. This also sets a worrying precedent for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which is scheduled to be hosted by Pakistan. Given the growing reluctance of BCCI to participate in any Pakistan-organized event, the ICC may face mounting pressure to shift the venue or adopt a neutral ground format. What's Next for India vs Pakistan in Cricket? With bilateral ties frozen and multilateral encounters now under threat, the India vs Pakistan cricket rivalry — one of the sport's most watched spectacles — faces an uncertain future. These high-voltage matches, which dominate TV ratings and digital viewership globally, may now be limited only to ICC global tournaments, if even that.
