Father of Baton Rouge mayor dies at 84: ‘My father was my hero'
BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The father of Mayor-President Sid Edwards, Emile Lobrano Edwards, died at the age of 84 on Monday morning.
Emile was born on April 10, 1941, and lived in Baton Rouge his entire life. He was a graduate of Istrouma High School and worked at Albermarle, formerly known as Ethyl Corporation, and Our Lady of the Lake Hospital as a maintenance worker.
'My father was my hero,' the mayor said. 'He showed me the true meaning of hard work, the importance of service, and how to live with compassion and integrity. His legacy of love will remain with me and our family forever.'
The mayor's office said the family is requesting privacy and appreciates prayers from the Baton Rouge community.
