Police given further 36 hours to question Chesham murder suspects
Police have been given a further 36 hours to question two men on suspicion of murder after a man's was taken to hospital in a critical condition after reports of an assault at the Upland Avenue junction with Upper Belmont Road in Chesham, Buckinghamshire, at about 17:20 BST on Tuesday, 10 33-year-old died in hospital on Saturday and two men from Chesham, aged 18 and 46, were Supt Emma Burroughs from Thames Valley Police said it was thought to be an isolated incident and the investigation was "progressing swiftly".
"You will see an increased police presence in the area, not only to gather evidence but to offer support and reassurance to residents," she said."We will work tirelessly to ensure that Chesham remains a safe place to live and I would urge anybody with any concerns to please speak to any officers in the area."Det Ch Insp Peter Clarke said: "We are continuing to investigate this tragic incident and would reassure the community that we are exploring all avenues to ascertain the full circumstances."He urged people "not to speculate" about the incident and appealed for anyone with information to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
