Paris explained that she and her ex were having "issues" about six months before their breakup in April 2023. News of their split broke after rumors circulated that Powell was dating his Anyone But You co-star. Paris said that Powell's response to the entire situation was ultimately the final straw. The model also shared that she first heard of Powell and Sweeney's rumored romance via social media. "I'm getting tagged over something he wrote on a photo and I screenshot it to him and said, 'Hey, the whole world is watching what you say so just like, proceed with caution. Please,'" Paris explained. "And that wasn't received well." "I just wanted respect, especially if it's gonna be public," She added of the ordeal. "Like, don't make an ass out of me. Don't make a fool out of someone you've been with for over three years talking about forever with. Just have some decency, you know?" Powell and Sweeney were photographed getting cozy on the set of the romantic comedy, which was shot in Australia. They also seemed lovey-dovey during Anything But You promotional events and red carpets. Powell later revealed that the pair's flirtatiousness was crafted as a marketing ploy. 'The two things that you have to sell a rom-com are fun and chemistry," he said in an interview with the New York Times. "Sydney and I have a ton of fun together, and we have a ton of effortless chemistry. That's people wanting what's on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit—and it worked wonderfully." As for Paris, she said that Powell's "work comes first" mentality made her "walk away." "What sucked was how it was handled," she said. "I felt like I was just fed to the dogs." Paris explained how she "flew halfway across the world" to confront Powell in Australia, and ended things with him after she wasn't allowed on the Anyone But You set. "He called and said, 'The producers and I have discussed that I think it's best that you don't come to that's when I hung up. And I was like, this motherfucker is done to me," Paris said. "That phone call really is what broke me. I thought we had hope, like, maybe when I got there that things would maybe get better," she shared. "But once I got that phone call, I just knew it was done. I had lost whoever that person was that I loved." Paris clarified that she doesn't know whether she was cheated on. "I have no confirmation of what actually happened," the model said. "I just know what my standards are. And for me, it just wasn't okay the way it was handled, period." Although Powell and Sweeney have been spotted together following the Euphoria star's recent split from fiancé Jonathan Davino, they are "definitely not together."
