Police are now investigating the incident. A holidaymaker has fallen ten metres from his hotel balcony. The 24-year-old tumbled while on holiday with pals in the Cyprus resort town of Ayia Napa The tragedy took place at around 8pm on Sunday, and he was initially rushed to the Famagusta hospital in Paralimni, but then transferred to Nicosia General Hospital - the largest in Cyrpus. A police probe into the circumstances surrounding incident has been launched, while medics who have treated him say he is in a "serious" condition. It comes just weeks after another British holidaymaker plunged from a hotel balcony in Puerto Banus, near Marbella. The man reportedly fell from a first-floor balcony at the Hard Rock Hotel on May 27. The drop was said to be the height of a third floor, and emergency services rushed him to Costa del Sol Hospital before he was urgently transferred to Regional University Hospital in Malaga due to the severity of his injuries. The Mirror reports three pals who were with him at the time have been questioned by police as investigations into the incident continue. Local reports suggest the man's friends had no idea he had fallen, until police investigating the incident came knocking on their hotel room door to break the news. It's understood the rest of his group had been asleep when the incident happened in the early hours, unaware of the terrifying plunge just outside. While authorities have yet to issue an official statement, sources say the fall is not being treated as a case of the dangerous trend known as 'balconing' where tourists leap between balconies or diving into pools from hotel rooms. The investigation remains ongoing as police work to piece together exactly what happened in the moments before the fall. In April, Brits heading to Ibiza were issued an urgent warning about the dangers of jumping off balconies following a number of similar tragedies involving young tourists. Scottish student Emma Ramsay, 19, died last August after falling from the sixth floor of a hotel. The Ministry of Tourism has pledged to bring "more responsible tourism" to the archipelago. A set of byelaws were recently introduced to Sant Antoni, Platja de Palma, S'Arenal de Lluchmajor and Magaluf - which brought in specific measures to try and stamp out balconing.

More info A teenager is critically ill in hospital after plummeting from the third floor of a building in Ibiza. The 18-year-old, who is from the UK, was discovered unconscious on the pavement, suffering severe injuries. It's believed he fell from the third floor of the property above, although this hasn't been officially confirmed, reports the Mirror. Paramedics were able to stabilise him at the scene before rushing him to Can Misses Hospital. He was admitted around midnight with head trauma and multiple serious injuries. The local police are currently piecing together the exact circumstances of the Sunday evening incident. The young man was later airlifted to Son Espases Hospital in Mallorca, where he remains in the Intensive Care Unit. At present, it's unclear whether the teen was holidaying in Ibiza or living there, and the Civil Guard is investigating. There have been several similar tragedies involving young tourists falling from hotel balconies in the area in recent years. This includes Scottish student Emma Ramsay, 19, who tragically lost her life after falling from the sixth floor of a hotel. The heartbreaking incident happened around 3am at a seafront four-star adult-only hotel in the party hotspot of San Antonio, known as Hotel Vibra District. Paramedics rushed to the scene but were unable to save the female holidaymaker due to the severity of her injuries. A police spokesperson confirmed: "I can confirm a 19-year-old British tourist has died following a fall at a hotel in San Antonio in Ibiza." Last month, travellers heading to Ibiza were cautioned about the perils of 'balconing'. This treacherous fad involves individuals jumping into swimming pools from their balconies. Young people gearing up for a trip to the iconic clubs of Ibiza have received stark warnings of potentially fatal injuries if they engage in the trend. A local government insider expressed significant concerns, saying it "worries us a lot", as the Ministry of Tourism commits to fostering "more responsible tourism" amidst a spree of party-related accidents and escalating local resistance to tourist behaviour. Newly enforced bylaws in Sant Antoni, Platja de Palma, S'Arenal de Lluchmajor and Magaluf have laid down specific rules aimed at quashing the hazardous activity. Ibiza issues warning to Brit tourists over 'balconing' as woman dies in hotel fall
British tourists have been warned they could be hit with a costly fine if they take part in the dangerous 'balconing' trend following the death of a young woman Boozed-up young Brits heading to Ibiza have been issued an urgent warning about the dangers of jumping off balconies. The new alert ahead of the busy party season follows the death of a 19-year-old woman who fell from the fourth floor of a hotel in San Antonio. The exact circumstances are currently under investigation, but it is thought the tragedy is connected to 'balconing' - a highly dangerous trend that sees people leap into swimming pools from their rooms. The teenager had only just returned to her room after visiting another part of the Spanish island when she plummeted to her death. The woman, who was born in Turkey and lived in Italy, had only been in Ibiza for a few hours before the tragedy. Medics had rushed to the scene but could do nothing to save her. A number of similar tragedies involving young tourists falling from hotel balconies have been reported in recent years, including Scottish student Emma Ramsay, 19, who died last after falling from the sixth floor of a hotel in the same area. Now, young British holidaymakers planning their getaways to Ibiza's world-famous nightclubs have been warned they risk a painful death if they try and copy the stunt. One local government source said the practice "worries us a lot", while the Ministry of Tourism has pledged to bring "more responsible tourism" to the archipelago following a wave of party-related injuries and growing local oppoisition to tourists. A set of byelaws recently introduced to Sant Antoni, Platja de Palma, S'Arenal de Lluchmajor and Magaluf put in place specific measures to try and stamp out balconing. The curbs apply to "activities considered dangerous to the physical integrity of people" - including "jumping into the void from balconies or windows" and "accessing rooms or rooms from other balconies". Another new rule bans the consumption of alcohol on public roads, and people with open containers on the street can now be hit with fines of between 500 and 1,500 euros. In addition, restrictions have been placed on promotions that encourage the consumption of large amounts of alcohol in a short space of time. Shops have been banned from selling alcohol between 9.30pm and 8am, and offers will be restricted to three alcoholic drinks per person. A source from the Ministry of Tourism told Periodico de Ibiza that they would continue to "invest resources in the development of information campaigns" that make clear the consequences of "not complying with the rules." Ana Gordillo, President of the Association of Hoteliers of Sant Antoni, said she hoped the death the young tourist "will not be repeated", though pointed that it is not yet known exactly why she fell from the balcony of the hotel.
