Emmad Irfani calls 'Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum' a career high
On Thursday night, Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum actor Emmad Irfani appeared on a talk show with host Waseem Badami and was candid, calm, and composed, especially when the conversation steered towards co-star Naeema Butt's recent comments about the hit drama. "I don't know what her experience was like," Emmad said. "For me, Kabhi Mein Kabhi Tum was the highlight of my career. Whether it was Javed Sheikh, Bushra Ansari, Fahad Mustafawho I was playing brothers withour relationship began to resemble sibling relationships on and off-screen." Emmad's words contrasted with the revelation shared by onscreen wife Naeema, who played the fierce and layered Rubab in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum. In a separate television appearance, Naeema had given her scathing views of the industry's "fake friendships" and lamented that her experience behind the scenes didn't match the warmth displayed online. However, Emmad offered a different and more diplomatic perspective about the obstacles within the entertainment industry. "Every person has insecurities and fears. Our life's goal should be to overcome them," he explained. Quick to note that this was a very personal view, the actor added, "I can't speak on behalf of anyone else. I can only speak for myself." As for his experiences on the series itself, Emmad had nothing but praise for his colleagues and the material he was given to work with. "I had very challenging scenes with Hania Aamir and Naeema," he recalled, "But if someone asked if I would do it all over again, I absolutely would." Naeema would disagree During an appearance on Gup Shab earlier in the week, Naeema had struck a very different tone and did not appear to share Emmad's wholesome views of the entertainment industry. Opening up about what she described as the "not-so-glamorous side of stardom," she shared that much of the camaraderie audiences see between actors on Instagram was, in her words, "fake." "I have seen that people are just being fake friends for Instagramor at least that is what my experience was," Naeema remarked. She admitted to having naively believed the online support from her co-stars was genuine, only to feel sidelined during public appearances. "Some were actively trying to push me off the stage," she added with a half-laugh, half-grimace. Naeema stopped short of naming names, but the implications were clear. And with fans already speculating about behind-the-scenes drama, her remarks only fanned the flames. Despite the murky off-screen drama, Naeema's performance as Rubab remains a fan favourite, and her honesty has only earned her more respect. Online reactions have largely sided with her for being bold enough to speak out, especially as a newer entrant into an industry known for maintaining glossy veneers. Other cast members, including Bushra and Hania, have not yet responded publicly to the growing conversation, though Hania previously praised Naeema's performance in an Instagram story during the drama's peak run. Whether or not Naeema's experience was an isolated one or part of a larger pattern within the industry, her comments have clearly opened up a deeper conversation about what authenticity looks like behind the lights and camera. As Emmad put it, perhaps each actor's truth is differentand both can coexist, even if uncomfortably. What's clear is that Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum didn't just leave an impression on audiences but left a legacy of questions behind the scenes too.

Naeema doesn't recognise Hania's animated AI image
During a gaming segment on a talk show, actor Naeema Butt failed to recognise an AI-generated animated image of her Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum co-star Hania Aamir. When host Wasim Badami expressed shock, Naeema said, "I don't know her very well so I wasn't able to guess it." She added that doing a drama serial together doesn't necessarily mean you know someone. "You can't know people. You might think you do, but that's hardly the case," she said. Naeema reiterated some of her points in an interview with Vasay Chaudhry on Tuesday. "I can only share my experience; I can't speak for anyone else," she began. "I thought that since I was receiving a lot of support, especially in Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, my colleagues were appreciating my work and that's really encouraging because I haven't done a lot of dramas." The Jindo actor added that her friendships with certain peers turned out to be one-sided. "When the camera is on, it all looks amazing. But the moment the camera turns off, they don't even let you come onto the stage." Naeema didn't wish to get into the details of her unpleasant experience, choosing instead to hold fast to the lessons she learned. "I realised that just because you post photos with someone on social media, it doesn't always mean that you're friends with them," she said. "They want the public's appreciation. They want to show the world that other people don't make them insecure, that they are fine and very happy, and that they want to support emerging talent. So it's okay, everyone's playing their game." Despite these difficulties, Naeema does recall moments of joy. "I had a great connection with Bushra Ansari. The set was always fun, especially with Emmad [Irfani]. I used to apologise to him a lot. I would say, 'Sorry! Please, don't take it to heart. I'm just doing a role!' But I had a very nice time with them." In February, Naeema filmed a hilarious exchange with Emmad in an Instagram Story. The two, who portrayed the antagonistic couple on Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, crossed paths in London, where Naeema channelled her infamous character Rubab as she accused Emmad's Adeel of treachery once more. "I'm here in London right now, and guess who I just found," Naeema said to the camera, before turning it to reveal a smiley Emmad accompanied by his wife and fashion designer Maryam Shafaat. "What are you doing here, Adeel? With another woman?" "Love in London," Emmad responded, laughing. Shaking her head, Naeema mimicked him in faux disdain.

Naeema Butt and Emmad Irfani cross paths in London
Naeema Butt filmed a hilarious exchange with Emmad Irfani in an Instagram Story shared Thursday. The Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum stars crossed paths in London, where Naeema channelled her infamous character Rubab as she accused Emmad's Adeel of treachery once more. "I'm here in London right now, and guess who I just found," Naeema said to the camera, before turning it to reveal a smiley Emmad accompanied by his wife and fashion designer Maryam Shafaat. "What are you doing here, Adeel? With another woman?" "Love in London," Emmad cheekily responded, laughing. Shaking her head, Naeema mimicked him in faux disdain. "That's the film's title. We're here in front of Buckingham Palace," Emmad said. The two attracted popularity for their masterful portrayal of the ambitious Adeel and the headstrong Rubab in the Fahad Mustafa and Hania Aamir starrer. Depicted as foils of the cast leads, Adeel and Rubab undergo a turbulent marriage fuelled by their individual flaws and bad decisions. Even now, audiences laud the Emmad and Naeema's performances as the malicious characters. In an interview with BBC News Urdu in September, the two spoke about the impact that the love-to-hate characters have had on their lives. "It doesn't matter much that [Adeel and Rubab] are a hated couple. What matters is how truthfully we portray the script," Emmad said. "I've been getting a lot of love and so is Rubab," Naeema said. "I think I can count the negative texts I've received about how people hate Rubab or that they want to slap her. But it's not that much." When asked about the logic behind Adeel's fidelity to everyone's wives but his own, Emmad said, "Only Farhat [Ishtiaq] ji can answer this question. But given my own knowledge of the character, I feel that Adeel's overt superiority complex is influenced by his inferiority complex. "He's been pampered by his family since childhood, so there's this societal pressure to be the best, look the best, earn the best. It's like the survival of the fittest for him. So he has ingrained in himself that he must do everything on its own. It's beyond self-love. Narcissism, if you will. He's a very complex character," Emmad concluded. Naeema, on the other hand, mentioned that fans' hatred of these characters sometimes translates to love. "I have received comments telling me that they used to like Rubab but not anymore, though they would also thank me for playing her well. So I'm like, wow," she said.
