Empower Her Art Forum launches at the Grand Egyptian Museum - Visual Art - Arts & Culture
The third edition of the Empower Her Art Forum (EHAF), organised by Art Today, launched on Friday with a ceremony held at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Running until 20 May, the forum features over 200 female artists from over 35 countries. EHAF, which aims to empower women, held three panel discussions on its second day on various topics, such as Women Shaping Identity Through Art & Culture, Voices of Women Leading Transformation, and Women Disrupting the Creative Economy. This year, the forum's programme includes workshops on creativity, visual arts, psychology, painting and drawing, and various expressive techniques. Over 10 workshops will be held throughout the forum days, led by international artists from Spain, Germany, Ethiopia, Greece, Turkey, and Oman. It also features a series of exhibitions showcasing artworks by artists from Finland, Romania, Italy, Serbia, Spain, Bahrain, India, Qatar, and other countries. Palestine is on display through the works of Palestinian artists Amira Mannah and Dina Mattar, who shed light on the Palestinian experience by weaving stories of resilience, identity, and hope. Five Qatari artists participate in ‘Empower Her Art Forum' at Grand Egyptian Museum
QNA Cairo Five Qatari female artists participated in the third edition of the Empower Her Art Forum at the Grand Egyptian Museum. Being held from May 16 to 20, the forum features 200 female artists from more than 35 countries around the world. The works of the participating artists, Hanadi Al Darwish, Haifa Alkhuzaei, Wadha Al Sulaiti, Suad Al Salem, and Maryam Al Mousa, embody the richness and diversity of Qatari art. They also reflect the prominent role and growing presence of women in the cultural and artistic scene, as part of the State of Qatar's support for the arts as a tool for promoting the values of empowerment, cultural dialogue, and building bridges between peoples. Artist Wadha Al Sulaiti told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the participating Qatari artists in the forum are displaying artwork inspired by Qatari heritage and highlighting Qatari women. She noted that this is the first participation of its kind for Qatari artists in the forum, appreciating the attention Qatari artists receive from the Egyptian side during their participation in the forum's activities. For her part, artist Suad Al Salem also told QNA that her participation in the forum includes a collection of paintings, explaining that these works were created using wood engraving and address the topic of women and the situations they experience. Participating in the forum alongside a group of Qatari artists represents an important opportunity for cultural interaction and the exchange of experiences with the various participating artists, she added. The forum featured a number of seminars and lectures on the development of modern art, in addition to workshops presented by a group of female artists, as well as special attention to the artistic creations of people with disabilities.

Cairo is set to host the third edition of the Empower Her Art Forum (EHAF) at the Grand Egyptian Museum from May 16 to 20, 2024. Organized by the Art Today Foundation for Arts, the international event celebrates female artistic talent and promotes women's empowerment through art. Held under the patronage of Egypt's Ministries of Culture, Youth & Sports, Environment, Tourism and Antiquities, and Social Solidarity, this year's forum will feature over 200 female artists from more than 35 countries. The event offers a diverse program that includes a visual arts exhibition, panel discussions, live painting sessions, and professional-led workshops. Artist Sherine Badr, Founder and CEO of Art Today Foundation, emphasized the forum's mission to provide a transformative platform for female artists. 'We are not only celebrating creativity, we are striving to empower female artists and give them the recognition they deserve,' she said. This edition of EHAF places a special focus on inclusivity, integrating people with disabilities both as artists and participants. The event's programming reflects themes of cultural exchange, justice, peace, and gender equality. A significant milestone this year will be the signing of a cooperation protocol between the Art Today Foundation and the Women's Museum in Bonn, Germany. As part of the agreement, five Egyptian female visual artists will receive travel grants to further their careers abroad. EHAF 2025 is supported by a range of prominent institutions, including UNHCR, UN Women, the Spanish Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute in Cairo, and the Yunus Emre Turkish Cultural Center. The forum aims to highlight art's role in women's empowerment through a visual art exhibition, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and live painting sessions. Organisers say the event seeks to foster cultural exchange and promote values of peace, justice, and equality. This year's edition will feature over 200 female artists from more than 35 countries.
