Iran pitches regional economic ties
Shafaq News/ Iran's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, proposed the formation of a regional economic development group that would include the Gulf states, Iran, and Iraq, according to several Iranian media outlets. Speaking at a diplomatic conference in Shiraz on Thursday, Enayati highlighted the need to expand regional engagement beyond political ties, calling for deeper cooperation in tourism, trade, and economic development. He also noted a shift in regional priorities, with a move away from security-focused approaches toward development-oriented strategies. The trend, while gradual, has become increasingly visible among Gulf countries and, in his view, offers a meaningful opportunity for Iran. 'Iran and Iraq lie to the north of the Persian Gulf, while six other countries are positioned along its southern coast. These eight nations have the potential to build a unified framework to advance economic cooperation,' he stated. Enayati also pointed to Iran's strategic geography and its network of transit corridors, describing them as key national advantages that could support its role as a regional economic route. Saudi defense minister's visit to Iran turning point in ties: Tehran's envoy to Riyadh
Iran's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alireza Enayati, told Al Arabiya on Monday that last week's visit by Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman to Tehran marked a 'turning point' in relations between the two countries. 'We entered a new era of relations with the visit of the Saudi defense minister,' Enayati said in an interview, adding that the future of Iranian-Saudi ties is promising. He also noted the successful development in relations between both countries since restoring diplomatic ties. In March 2023, Saudi Arabia and Iran announced that they had reached an agreement, brokered by China, to reestablish diplomatic relations after seven years of no formal ties. The Kingdom had severed ties with Iran in 2016 following attacks by pro-regime protesters on its embassy in Tehran and consulate in Mashhad. Prince Khalid met last week with Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran where he delivered a letter from King Salman. During his trip, Prince Khalid also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Supreme National Security Council secretary Ali Akbar Ahmadian, and chief of staff of the armed forces Mohammad Bagheri. 'We want to build a promising and bright future for our region and this requires cooperation, togetherness and collaboration among its countries especially between Iran and Saudi Arabia,' Enayati said.

Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia to Asharq Al-Awsat: Khalid bin Salman's Visit Is Very Important
Iranian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Alireza Enayati described as 'very important' Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman's visit to Tehran on Friday. In remarks to Asharq Al-Awsat, he noted Prince Khalid's meetings with senior Iranian officials to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues. The visit is evidence that bilateral relations are moving forward at a rapid pace since they were restored less than two years ago, he added. Speaking from Tehran, Enayati hoped that the visit would have a positive impact in the region, underlining Saudi Arabia and Iran's importance in the region. Prince Khalid met in Tehran with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, President Masoud Pezeshkian, chief of staff of Iran's Armed Forces Mohammad Bagheri, and Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) General Ali Akbar Ahmadian Discussions focused on the 'fruitful, constructive and positive' relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, continued Enayati. They also tackled issues that concern the region and its security and stability, as well as support to the Palestinian cause, he remarked. Prince Khalid traveled to Iran at the directives of the Saudi leadership. He handed Khamenei a written message from Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz. He added that he discussed with Khamenei issues of common interest and bilateral relations between their countries. Enayati stressed the need for Saudi Arabia and Iran to invest their major capabilities in developing relations. Khamenei underscored the importance of Saudi-Iranian ties and the need for their continuity for the interests of all parties, the ambassador said. Prince Khalid's visit reflects the determination of both countries to develop and bolster their ties further. The region, he stressed, needs solidarity between its nations, especially between Saudi Arabia and Iran, added Enayati.
